Gacy was stealing for most of his life. Gacy was able to steal but his mother kept finding items that he stole, and he had to return the objects. Gacy stole six small toy trucks and his mother made him return them. He stole money from his job and his mother made him return it to the store even though she knew he was being fired. (“Buried Dreams” 26) His mom always tried to make him do the right actions and make him have the consequences for his previous actions. He would steal money, small items, and many more objects. The only reason anyone found out was that his mother made him return all the items when she found out about it. Dr.Morrison seemed to think stealing was part of what led to Gacy's killing. The Doctor thought that Gacy thought if he could figure out a way to steal then he could find a way to kill and not be caught. John Wayne Gacy is a convicted murderer accused of killing over thirty people. Gacy suffered from physical and mental abuse by his father throughout his childhood. Throughout his adulthood, he was known and liked by many people in the community in which he resided in. In the late 1960s however, Gacy was sentenced to ten years in jail after being found guilty of sexually assaulting two minors. In the later years of his sentence, Gacy was questioned about several other related cases.
In addition to the 33 murders that were committed, Gacy was also accountable for many, many rapes. A couple of times before his killing period, he was found guilty of sodomizing several minors. Even during the period of his murders, he would commit numerous acts of rape. Gacy would chloroform the victim, or sometimes hold gunpoint, take them back to his house, and then brutally rape and torture the victim. Even with complaints by the numerous victims, the Chicago police department did not take action (Blanco).
His actions were not condonable in any way and as a result he should receive the law’s fullest extent of punishment for what he did, which at the time was the death penalty in Illinois. As someone who had done something as horrific was murdering and raping thirty-three people, there was no amount of rehabilitation Gacy could receive so that he could fit into society. Furthermore, he had already served jail time for sexual assaults prior to his murders and already had a second chance in redeeming himself in the public eye. Attorney Karen Conti, an attorney working for Gacy, even said that “he was the poster child for the death penalty,’’ and that “everyone said: ‘I don’t believe in the death penalty, but for Gacy, yes.’” Thus, I feel that the death penalty was suitable for John Wayne Gacy’s malicious
Gacy was really attracted to the same sex but he liked the boys to be young like early teenage years. He would lure the boys in his home and rape them. Gacy was caught 1968 and was given a 10-year poison tern for assault on two teen boys. Gacy was released on parole the summer of 1970. A teenage boy went missing December 1978, the mother said he went to go meet up with John Gacy for a job.
Gacy lured a young boy to do odd tasks around his house, then molested the young boy. This happened in 1967. This should have been the first warning sign about Gacy. Gacy of course got arrested for his crime and was sentenced for ten years in prison, but before he was arrested, he hired someone to intimidate the victim into staying quiet so he would not get caught.. Anaiah Whittle Belliston Psychology 17th May, 2023 John Wayne Gacy Killer clowns have been a huge topic of discussion the last few years. They have been featured in so many T.V shows, books, and movies. John Wayne Gacy was one of the worlds biggest killer clowns. He killed 33 young men and boys because of his past trama with his abusive father and him being confused with his sexuality.
Another strain in Gacy's life was his sexuality. Despite being married to several women, Gacy was unsure of his sexual orientation. He might have experienced some sort of internalized homophobia and took it out on his victims, as they were young males. Concerning the removal of a positive stimulus, Gacy never had the most fulfilling parts of childhood. He lacked care, love, and nurturing from his parents.
Despite the layers of concealment, Gacy shrouded around himself through his heterosexual family life, he fed into his homosexual desires when he first anally raped a young boy. As time went on, the desires came to overpower him. Which was turning him
The persistent abuse Gacy endured during his formative years may have resulted in deep-seated feelings of anger, resentment, and a distorted sense of power and control. It is plausible that Gacy's violent acts were a means to exert dominance and reestablishing a sense of control over others, compensating for the powerlessness he experienced in his relationship with his father. Another significant aspect of Gacy's psychology revolves around his repressed homosexuality. Living in a time and society where homosexuality was heavily stigmatized, Gacy struggled with his own sexual identity. The conflicts arising from his sexual orientation, combined with societal expectations and personal shame, could have created a deep-seated self-loathing that he projected onto his victims.
There have been millions of serial killers who are homosexual, but has someone ever wondered about their reason for killing? Many have different reasons finical gain, jealousy, or even hatred for a specific group, even themselves. John Wayne Gacy killed 33 young men and boys due to his abusive childhood, his relationship with his father, the ostracization he went through as a child, and the raging homophobia he grew up with.
