When people think of Joseph, many think of him as the man who saved Egypt or as a great ruler. Not many people realize that it took a lot of hard work for Joseph to get to that point. Yes, God blessed him and gave Joseph that position but Joseph also had to put in a lot of hard work to get to where God could use him. Joseph was the second youngest of Jacob and his mother was Rachel. Being born of Rachel, Joseph was automatically placed in good favor with Jacob. Jacob favored Joseph over his brothers and that caused Joseph’s brother’s to be jealous. This jealousy caused his brother’s to hate Joseph and to plan against him.
At one point, Jacob sent Joseph out to go check on his brothers. They saw him coming though and started to plan against

Joseph was no longer an overseer of a household but a whole nation. This is also where we can again see Joseph’s continuous servitude. Egypt was headed for a famine that would more than likely have wiped out the nation if they were not prepared for it.
His prosperity was of course by the blessings of God. Joseph could not get to where he was without Him. That being said, we can also see how that Joseph was a holy servant. He was not only willing to be used by God, but desired it as well and we can see how God was able to use him to prevent the annihilation of a race.
While the nation was in a famine, Egypt remained unaffected and was even able to help the surrounding areas by selling them wheat and grain. Joseph’s own family came to buy form them. This gave Joseph yet another opportunity to serve.
This is the part that I like to call Joseph’s secret service. His brothers had come down to buy from Egypt. They did not recognize Joseph and he kept it that way. While his brothers were on their way home with the grain they had bought, one of the brothers looked in his sack and found the money that they had just used was inside the sack. Joseph, in secret was able to serve and provide for his family and bless them a little in the
From handbook: Code 412: Assault of Teacher or Staff An intentional or reckless act that causes or has the potential to cause physical injury to a teacher or school staff on school grounds or at a school-sponsored activity. Joseph was trying to keep another student from harm. He did not assault Mr. Reese. He pulled Mr. Reese's arm from about Olivia's neck.
In this movie, Joe is immensely fortunate as the villagers are always there for him when he is in the most menacing circumstances. In one incident, the Devine sends its minions to subjugate Joe’s cow and tries to accuse Joe for allowing his cow to graze the grass of the Federal Government. Joseph Smith, the leader of the Mormons, arrived in neighboring Jackson County in 1831 with a group of his followers. They believed that they would inherit the land that was already owned by earlier settlers through righteousness. This created tension between the Mormons and the earlier arrivals, and in 1833, the Mormons were forcibly driven from Jackson County. Many relocated to Clay County and later to Caldwell County, but lasting peace was not to be achieved. In 1838, Joseph Smith and several other Mormon leaders were arrested and jailed in Liberty over the winter.
Gabe Hatch Historical Context of D&C 121 Circumstances Surrounding how the Revelation was Received During this time that this revelation was given, Joseph Smith along with Alexander McRae, Caleb Baldwin, Lyman Wright, and Hyrum Smith, were incarcerated in Liberty Jail from December 1, 1838, to April 6, 1839 (Jessee & Welch, 2000; The Joesph Smith Papers, 1839; Wessel, 2012). These men all underwent extreme trails in terrible conditions, which Holland (2008) referred to as “cruel, illegal, and unjustified.” In the midst of these trials, Joseph wrote a four letters to his wife Emma, and another letter addressed to Bishop Edward Partridge, the saints at Quincy Illinois, and the saints abroad (Jessee & Welch, 2000). This letter was composed in
Joseph II – His belief of tolerance represented the enlightenment ideals A careful student of his people’s problems, Joseph II opposed his own mother - the Empress of Austria- in order to set his enlightenment reforms into action. Influenced by the work of philosophes his strong belief for tolerance characterized the ideals of what enlightenment thinkers had fought for. The ambitious despot emblematized the enlightenment ideals as he enforced laws against capital punishment and inequality, carried out religious tolerance and promoted welfare for his people.
Their Eyes Were Watching God Analysis There are many characters that have exploited the qualities of a good leader, but I think that Joe Starks is the character that exploits the most to his benefit. Joe comes to Eatonville with nothing, but a dream and three hundred dollars. Joe won over the heart of Janie because he explained what he wanted to do and what his goals in life were and Janie wanted to be a part of that. Joe goes to Eatonville and demands there to be change.
Joe felt that he was helping them by saving them from what he believed was wrong, but Joe saving them was just away for him to have more control. For example, he forced Janie to tie her hair up and dictated where she could go. After Joe saved the mule and it died he threw the mule a mock funeral. Joe even restricted Janie from going to the funeral for the mule that she wanted to save. Due to the opinions of Joe Starks about women or Janie that he himself states it can be inferred that Joe feels the same way about them both.
Some people may argue that the Mormons took a step back in our expansion because their neighbors did not like them due to their religion and this could create another war for us, but the neighboring villages attacking the Mormons were violating our rights to freedom of religion and the Mormons had every right to settle there. Joseph Smith was the leader of the Mormons group and he worked hard to move the Mormons from Ohio, to Missouri, to Illinois, and finally to Utah. This was a hard task, but somehow Smith managed to move 15,000 men, women, children and all of their supplies, while only losing about 100 people. The people were also determined to get to the Promised Land, (Utah) that when the wheels on the cart broke or oxen died volunteers took up the carts and pulled them the rest of the way. This was the final way that the Mormons have helped in our US
Joe’s life had changed right before his eyes, just like a lot of Americans lives and the Jews in Germany during the early 1930s. Millions of people were displaced during the tumultuous times of the
On their way to Canada they ran into a battle with the U.S. They were forced to surrender due to conditions of Chief Joseph's people. It was a hard decision for him to make, but all of his tribe was dying off. He surrendered to General Nelson A. miles on October 5, 1877 in the Bear Paw mountains of Montana. Which was 40 miles from the Canadian border.
Joseph is the offering of the poor dictated by Leviticus. Jesus displays here his preferential option for the poor. It is not a singular thing to hear a sermon that defines what should be the attitude of the Christian toward people who are less fortunate than himself. Again and again our missionary appeal is on the basis of the Christian responsibility to the needy, the ignorant, and the so-called backward peoples of the earth (Chapter 1 of “Jesus & The Disinherited”: Jesus: An Interpretation.).
One of the many roles of God is being the role of the guardian, albeit a fearful deity. The basic tenant is such that God protects those who are morally good. During the prologue, Job is “a man of perfect integrity, who feared God and avoided evil” (Mitchell 5) and is blessed for that. At the beginning of the book, God provides Job with prosperity and well mannered children because Job is his humble servant. In
From many stories in the Bible, it is shown that God can use anyone from anywhere to do His works. As a man from a small town named Tishbe, Elijah was a great example of this. He was an average human being, but he had great quantities of faith in the Lord, as his name meant “my God is Yahweh” (Zavada). As said in the book of James, “ Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.
After all he is the largest landowner in Waknuk and the magistrate for the people, making him well known all throughout Waknuk and the outside world. If David were to run away, Joseph would send people after him and if they were to catch him, they would question him and become immensely wary of him. Joseph puts all his faith on to the Repentance’s and will do anything to make sure that is the one, true religion: My father’s faith was bred into his bones, his principles were his sinews, and both responded to a mind richly stored with examples from the Bible, and from the Nicholson’s Repentances. In faith father and son were at one; the difference between them was only in approach; the evangelical flash did not appear in my father’s eye his virtue was more legalistic (Wyndham
