Survivors Support Group I am currently on the mental health track, so looking at a potential group that I might encounter would encompass female victims of domestic violence and abuse (DVA) which is also referred to as intimate partner violence (IPV) and rape or sexual assault victims (as statues vary depending on the states definition). Both forms of abuse stem from a power and control dynamic. The use of force during sex is not about sexual pleasure for the perpetrator, instead the pleasure comes from being in a position of power and having control over another human being. The act of hurting and demeaning the woman is the real pleasure. DVA/IPV consists of physical, sexual, emotional, and economic abuse.
My present role is as a facilitator/tutor delivering vocational skills/theory Diplomas; level one, through to level three. My teaching risk rating is Green. For me, the most important aspect of learner retention stems from being in relational context with the learner, seeing them as they are, gaining some understanding of their needs and struggles and supporting them to know that whatever the difficulty, I teach to pass not to fail. Around 25% of my learners aged 16-19 (or 21 dependant on when they were initially registered) are identified as having an ALN or ASN, with one of my learners on the Autism spectrum, I adapt how I communicate the sessions to accommodate the clarity he requires and to not assume that he can second guess what to do next. I have found that I am able to support a wide range of learners to achieve and have not lost one learner from an apprenticeship course that I have delivered.

Compassion is ‘a desire to alleviate another person’s suffering’ as redefined by Lopez (2011) which is believed that people can train themselves to become more competent in (Lutz, Brefczynski-Lewis, Johnstone & Davidson, 2008). Dalai Lama (1995) originally suggested that compassion is achieved by deep commitment to relieve the suffering of another person (as cited in Gilbert, 2010a). Compassion focuses
I agree to a certain extent that group counseling has more to offer than individual counseling. Not everyone is suitable for group counseling or individual counseling (Corey,2008 and Yalom, 2005). Group counseling however has many different benefits that I consider has more to offer. It could provide group support for the members who are affecting as they are not totally alone in the situation that they are facing. It is also effective as they provide a greater help and feedback.
