The Ju/Hoansi (foragers) the Yanamamo (horticulturists) and the Minangkabau (agriculturists) are all different in many ways. Very specifically in their gathering and subsistence strategies. The Ju/Hoansi on one hand are foragers. Foraging communities usually live in smaller groups and move where they live very often. This is mostly because a foraging community will move outward from their camp collecting food and substance for their people. Often though the area that is around the community will start to run dry of food and sustenance so the group must move on to a new location. Foraging groups usually move by season which decides where they go for the most food.
The Yanamamo on the other hand are what’s called horticulturists. Horticulturist

The reason that I want to attend Machik Weekend is because when I grow older, I aspire to work for the Tibetans inside Tibet, and to give back to the community that has helped me developed my own identity as a Tibetan. Although I am far away from my country, distance shouldn’t be a barrier because there is so much that can be done. Machik’s cause immediately struck an inner chord in my heart and reminded me of the detailed stories that my late Grandpa and Grandma had told me from their experiences in Tibet. I wish to be apart of this amazing organization that helps so many people in my homeland.
