There were times during the first interview I found Bailey changing the subject in order to tell a more established story. The details yielded decent data to research but required more effort in analyzing. After the first interview, I spent a couple of hours revamping questions that still contained the same context for an answer but rephrased in a way that would guide her responses to be clearer. For example, Bailey always tried to tell a personal narrative in her answers so I incorporated her opinion into later questions for the second interview in a way that could help her provide an answer. Developing the performance has only presented an issue of “ums” and “uhs”, but that can easily be resolved.
Self Reflection over an Introduction to Adaptive Leadership When first signing up for this class I believed it to be a class about learning how to become a leader, or an even better one. After watching the course introduction and learning more about this class I learned that it was not what I thought it was about, but would still value me greatly. As I have examined the history of different leadership styles and theories I have expanded greatly on what I knew about leadership, learning specifically about adaptive leadership. I can also say that I have seen growth in my journals over the past few weeks, as they have started to grasp a better understanding of adaptive leadership. This course has also expanded on different aspects of adaptive leadership such as: disequilibrium, diversity, running experiments, and the four KLC competencies of civic leadership.
I can also compare my strengths and weaknesses to make a personal development plan to provide myself with motivation but this can also allow me to deliver a high quality service to the children and their parents during transitions, such as; delivering empathy, coping mechanisms and education. Consistency is key and I will be consistent with my behaviours and delivery to help the children progress and reach their full potential therefore I will continue carrying out observations to keep parents informed of their child’s progress when beginning school and throughout the year. I believe I have learned from my chosen theme on transitions. Beginning my essay I was nervous writing about transitions and this scared me from investigating different transitions that occur for children and how to support them. When I began to think of my own practice and investigate websites it give me a foundation to complete the essay but to also apply changes to my own
Personality test The code and results I got from doing the tests is ENTP. To take these tests seriously it actually takes some consideration to make the right decision while choosing the correct answer. Usually I would be a bit skeptical of doing these types of things but as one of the questions asked, do you think there are patterns in life? I can see how after studies they can tell a lot about a person by the pattern in the answers given and I was very surprised how accurate the analysis is of my character was and how I conduct my daily life. For example, I do love to travel as one of the positives but something else I do is to act on something without thinking or having a plan which can be both good and bad.
The correlation between my personality type on the Jungian Typology Scale and my human relations in my career growth. The results were that my there is an intermingle relationship between Jungian Typology and why we act and think the way we do. My instructor Jennifer Jackson said this time “ Bravo! This is one of the strongest revisions I’ve seen yet.” This essay gave me so much confidence and made me feel I can actually write something interesting. Also, I sent my paper to The Writing Center, after I submitted my paper to my instructor to see any other mistakes I could have to improve my writing skills. I received a very good feedback from them after three or four days of submitting my paper, they said, “ my paper was pretty good. I needed to work on some minor mistakes such as spacing, omitting the work “that” when I did not need
However, as a teaching assistant, I had to retrieve past recollection of the course material and organize them in a logical, coherent manner for some else. For example, one of my teaching assistant duties involved conducting online test reviews. I now have a greater knowledge of the course material from conducting online test reviews. Before the teaching assistance experience, I had an unreasonable expectation of when I believed a test or a paper grade should be completed. However, I now have a new perception and appreciation for professors and teaching assistants.
For this type of rehearsal, you make connections between what you are trying to remember and something you already know (Goldstein, pg, 173, 2011). This results in putting the memory into a deeper level of processing based on its meaning, which makes encoding, and retrieval better. Unbeknownst to me, I have been using this process for years without ever realizing that is was an actual scientific method used to enhance our memory. Recently I had to study for the dreaded mid-term. I say dreaded because of the amount of information you are expected to remember.
Agility and adaptability skills Exam When I first heard that our exam was going to be the open box I was kind of excited because I thought it would be easy. I later realized that it not as easy as it seems, yeah I can bring notes to the exam but I need to know where in the notes are the information I need. I used my agility skills (willingness to learn from my experience) and my adaptability skills (embracing change) in order to prepare myself for the exam. I had to use my willingness to learn to make myself actually study for the exam, instead of relying on my study notes. I had to adapt to a new way of writing an exam since I am not used to open-book test.
I can really say without fear of contradiction that I learnt a lot during the research process and during the essay writing process. I gained several skills that I am sure will be very useful in future. I can prove that the skills I gained in essay writing will be very useful in future both n further studies and in my career as I am now very conversant with essay writing techniques. If for instance a future employer asks me to write an essay on how to improve customer relation in the company, I know the format that will make my work look professional. Gauging my work, that is, the research process, the analysis of the information I got and the essay, I can say that I was above average.
