Juvie turns boys into men. It makes the best of kids into hardened criminals. You should read Juvie Three by Gordon Korman because you get experience the daily struggles of Juvie, living away from your family, and the home life, I would highly suggest this book to any reader. If you enjoy reading about the daily struggles of teenagers in bad home lives, this book will hook you like a fish. This book will hit you with the reality of all three. This book is a saddening novel. Juvie Three really put into perspective of how well off I am. You will learn to not take everything for granted. One of the many reasons I would suggest this book, is it feels like you 're right there experiencing the three boys daily struggles. “ It’s all a mistake, they 've called the wrong kid. I 'm going back to the laundromat, where they can finish the job. I need to defend myself!”( 9). This very thought ran through his head before he was attacked. Gecko one of the main characters had this scream through his mind, before being beat with a tube sock packed with bar soap. Imagine having to envision being beat every night you dream. Sadly, this is the reality for the main characters of Juvie Three. Gecko, Arjay, and Terence have to learn to defend themselves in daily quarrels. I …show more content…

In the Juvie Three author Gordon Korman tries to teach you that there is sometimes in life second chances and if you're willing to take that chance it will work out in the end. 3 Mischievous kids in The Juvie Three, Gecko Arjay and Terence get into trouble, All three boys are serving time in juvenile detention until they get a second chance. Douglas Healy a former inmate is in a halfway house in New York. Until one night the boys get into a fight and Douglas tries to break it up.
The book has many characters with very different personalities. The book has unexpected twists and turns throughout it. The novel involves kidnappers, a dragon and (of course) the 5 children from Miami that know nothing about what they’re getting into. This book started out as, a fairly normal story.
I like the book because it shows that you can survive with something as little s a hatchet. It shows how easily everything can change in your life. This could be better if brain actually told his mom he knew her
Book Review I think the book “Touching Spirit Bear” book is a extremely action packed & dramatic book. In this book two teenage boys (Peter and Cole) have a depressing start to life , on the other hand they starts to explore themselves and find who they truly are. DRAMA & ACTION. Those are the two main words. If you like drama and action i bet you would like this book.
The characters make this an interesting journey that will have readers wanting to read more. This novel tangles the lives of two men from different racial and social backgrounds who are in different directions of their lives. Juke Jackson and Malcolm Wade create a bond and help each other through their struggles. They both are facing relationship struggles back at home. Wade was always there for Juke when he needed him.
Have you ever read a book actually changed you? That gave you the chills and caused goosebumps to break out across your skin? Violent Ends did that to me, more than once. Reading it left me internally shaken, craving a teddy bear and soft blanket, and half wanting to throw the book and frame it. Violent Ends is an exceptional creature.
This book was interesting for me because it allowed me to relate to a character. I love reading novels that not only allow me to feel a connection with a character, but allow me to relate to their personality or
The book I chose to read for my book review was “ Killing Mr.Griffin”. It is about 5 high school students who hate their english teacher Mr. Griffin and come up with a plan to kidnap him. Their main purpose is to just torture and make Mr. Griffin think he is going to die. The plan takes a tragic turn and results in Mr. Griffin's death. The plan simply falls apart in a domino effect of terror and grief.
The boys in the book start out fine, and civilized just like the people in the beginning of the experiment. Gradually both groups of boys and ¨prisoners¨ start to become more dark, and less human. They both make great examples of how your surroundings change the way you behave. It shows how even when there is the opportunity to become evil, there are still good souls who stay the same.
It’s a really good book to read, because it will change the view that we have as citizens, living us with many questions without answer for the
Lockdown by Walter Dean Myers is a novel that will keep you on your toes. Inspiration, courageousness, nervousness, and depression are all the emotions you feel while reading Lockdown. A topic based around someone making a mistake and ending up in jail isn’t easy to digest, but when the prisoner is only fourteen it’s unbelievable. While reading this book it was quite obvious Walter Dean Myers arranged a lot of research for this novel, it was written very well and full of facts. Hearing stories of gang violence, drug abuse, and shootings is a big wake up call for anyone who interprets this novel it reallys make you realize how grateful you should be for what you have.
The story really brought out a lot of emotions out of me. Some parts I enjoyed over others but it had me hooked from the start. I think that we learn that things do get better over time and we should really start appreciating friends and family more than we already are. Overall I think that the book had nice themes in it, definitely a must
It 's a jaw-dropping book that will leave you wanting more as the author Laurie writes in a crisp and clear way describing the young girl Melinda’s horrific story and how it unfolds. The author 's tone gives off the vibe of a young frighted girl which I find really enhances this sad, but exhilarating story. This story taught me to always speak up for myself and to never let anyone take advantage of me. I would recommend this novel because it is extremely detailed, painting vivid pictures in your mind that really help to magnify and
The book I have chosen to review is Boy 21, a fictional read that is written by Matthew Quick. Quick is a New York Times best-selling author debuting in novels such as The Silver Linings Playbook and Love May Fail. To best describe this book, it is a captivating read that is comforting for the mind, as it canvasses the raw and unflinching life of a high school senior who displays love for basketball and life relationships. Furthermore, set in a troubled Belmont city of Philadelphia, Quick incorporates the presence of mobs and violence which is captivating towards the reader and audience. I was intrigued about how the novel was written through Finley the main protagonist, which was Quick’s childhood perspective of life in Philadelphia and his passion towards basketball.
I would recommend this book to any teenage girl who won’t mine wasting tissues for tears and will not mine getting angry at characters. I would recommend this book to a teenage girl because of all of the romance and usually boy aren’t in to those things. If you are up for the challenge, I will recommend this book to you. All I have to say if you decide to read this novel, fasten your seat belts and enjoy the ride through a page-turning journey, the loops the author puts you threw from her described word choice and the swift pace you’re put on by the
