Historically, throughout every presidential election the state and atmosphere of the country shifts; whether it be towards a negative or positive direction depending on the, subjective, perception of the citizen. In the United States of America, every four years, a new presidential candidate is chosen, through such, arguably life-changing event, the epitome of what a democracy looks like is showcased and performed for the world. As historic and important the 2016 election was in America, considering a woman and celebrity ran against each other, it is evident that what is to come, within the 2020 election, will only further highlight polarizing opinions/parties of American citizens; as it did with the 2016 presidential election. “Why candidates win and why candidates loose” (American Politics Today, Bianco, Cannon, 218) is consequently a result relating to their campaign management/rendering. Through an image and issue oriented campaign, more specifically with active social media interaction, and ameliorating an essential, moderate, shared party identity, Kamala Harris has a realistic/crisp chance of winning the 2020 general election. Consequently, the named strategies can be utilized to overcome, unavoidable, challenges.
Each major political party, republican/democrat, has an elected candidate or “representative which will run against each other in the general election; along with an elected third-party candidate. Regarding, qualifications Kamala Harris is more than chartered to be the forefront

In an issue oriented campaign, the focus is on a few issues, in hopes of seeking support from those who care largely about them (Ritchie, POSC010, Lecture, 2017), the crisps reality is, for Harris, nearly all of the issues she largely focuses on now and is extremely vocal out, abortion, gun regulation, health-care, immigration reform (Harris.Senate.Gov, 2017), are obvious topics that the democratic party has been advocating for and against in contemporary society. Thus, to be frank, she should not have much difficulty winning the primary election considering democratic voters will unapologetically align themselves with her arguably extreme views; as they have done before with Donald Trump in the RNC (Republican National Convention) and Bernie Sanders in the DNC, who lost to Hillary. However, assuming that Kamala Harris wins the democratic nomination and becomes the second woman to every run for president, in U.S history, a strong focus on an issue orientated campaign would be extremely hurtful considering within the general election, Harris must appeal to every American, not just those with a shared party
Azari explained that when parties are shut out of power, the conversations about how to respond can lead to change. After the two terms of George W. Bush’s presidency, the divisions between his party’s more establishment wing and its populist sect had begun to emerge. While the traditional wing of the Republican Party stressed economic issues and business concerns, cultural issues such as same-sex marriage and immigration reform motivated the populist faction. During the Obama administration, the Democratic party has moved to the left on economic and social issues. As with George W. Bush, Barack Obama will not be succeeded by a president of the same party.
During these few weeks democrats and Republicans Who are running for president were engaged in a battle to win the Iowa caucus. The state of Iowa hosted the first official vote of the 2016 campaign. During the Iowa caucus, different tactics and strategies were used by both parties to gain votes, through the use of persuasion ,repugnant comments, and the use of the media. The two articles I will be discussing, “ Ad Wars of 2016 Campaign Erupt in a Changing TV Arena” by Nick Corasaniti and “Attack ! why next 2 weeks could get nastier than ever” by Jennifer Jacobs.
There was a belief in the past that elections resolved big debates in the country and could be turning points of what the public thinks about the issues. But this did not transpire in 2012 and Balz sees the future of elections to be more of the same: he expects that they will be predicated on hate of the opponent divided along demographic and party lines, not the merits of the candidates and their policies; he predicts social media and technology as a whole to grow in importance and scope; and he believes debates will become more important while becoming less and less about the issues and more about
With a net worth of at least 40 million, she has already raised $13 million to de Leon's paltry 433,000, so she can simply outspend de Leon on the way to reelection. She is also one of the most recognizable people in the Senate, and has a strong track record that many moderate Democrats can get behind. The #Me Too movement starting in late 2017 also helps Feinstein's candidacy. Electing a man to replace Feinstein, who was one of the first powerful women in politics, could be seen by some as a backwards step in the fight against the male-dominated American legislature. Although Feinstein did not win the endorsement of the California Democrats, she has powerful friends, including Kamala Harris, a known progressive, who have endorsed her.
The political region of the Northeast is predominately led by Democrats, so Collins stands out not only due to her status but her unorthodox-bipartisan approach to the issues she votes on and often crosses party lines to vote in favor a bill that her peers would vote against. In fact her voting record and political positions places her considerably more towards the centrist/moderate side of the party, something that is increasingly uncommon for the Republican party. For example, she voted no on a bill to harshen punishments for drug users in 1999 - one of only three Republicans to do so - as well as voting no to the constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, one of only four to do so. However this bilateral behavior has not negatively affected her standings with the voters or populace in general.
Bill O’Reily in his article “Trumps Silent Plurality” argues that President elect Donald Trump, despite wide opposition by the “Left Wing” media and experts has managed to win the presidential election as well as “rewriting the manual the manual for how to run a presidential campaign. O’Reily supports this claim by introducing the perspective of a trump supporter, giving reasons for why and how Trump was opposed, and finally he explains the importance of the elections results and how they will affect the future. One of the most salient strategies O’Reily employs in order to convey his argument is addressing the situation from a new perspective. From the onset of the article the reader is introduced to the mindset of a fairly informed American voter, who finds presidential candidate Donald Trump very
Presidential election brings a lot of attention to candidates running for the office and public is listening and watching every move they are making. Public is also analyzing their thought process. News and media is analyzing their moves and trying to break it down for public. This year’s presidential election is nothing less and candidates have been under fire. San Jose Editorial group is also breaking down stands of this year’s candidates.
In the year of 2016, the most controversial issue that occurred was the presidential election. Hilary Clinton, a Democratic nominee and Donald Trump who is a part of the Republican Party, both fought for the spot to become the 45th president. Many felt that Donald Trump should not have been chosen to become president due to a stance on equality rights. Donald Trump does not believe in equality for genders and races and he makes it known on twitter. However, individuals presume Hilary Clinton is the better candidate because she has experience in the political field and has a devoted her time in reaching for justice.
The 2016 Presidential Election was one of the craziest events in United States history. Obviously, Donald Trump won and it affected millions of people, whether it was in a good way or a bad way. In the article, “Donald Trump’s Inaugural Address Was Great”, by James Poulos, Trump was considered to be “great and logical” (Poulos). However, in the article, “Don’t Believe the Populism of Trump’s Inaugural Address. Our President is a Plutocrat”, by Ryan Cooper, Trumps is considered to be a terrible person, and he does not to deserve to be president.
Many presumed that Sarah Palin was inexperienced in a political sense to be running for such a notorious office position. Notwithstanding the controversy’s Sarah Palin portrayed herself as a strong women and she did make her presence known. Despite being a broadcasted figure Sarah has not under gone much scrutiny than Hillary has; only because she has not been in the public eye too long. Unlike Clinton, Sarah is an active conservative and gun enthusiast. Sarah and her family are passionate wildlife hunters and keen religious people.
Sarah Palin played a controversial role in American history. There are very different opinions about her role in the political life in America. Some people think she is very intelligent women with great leadership quality. On the other side some people believe she was “clown” or had high celebrity drive. In spite those opinions Sarah Palin had played a tremendous role in women being involved in the American politics.
The turmoil, upheaval, and controversy of the 2016 Trump election is a significant current event of the modern world, but this landslide election is not the first in America’s history to raise such conflicting opinions. The Revolution of 1800 was another shift in political history that impacted not only the candidates, but majority of the public. The defeat of John Adams to Vice President Thomas Jefferson led to the rise of the Democratic-Republican Party rule and the eventual demise of the Federalist Party. Often in politics, opposing views, scandals, and negative publicity plays a role in the election process, due to this, in both the 2016 election and 1800 election negative criticism from both parties was evident. The 1800 and 2016 elections
Rebuilding the Grand Old Party We were all in. As president of the local Young Republicans chapter, I made the executive decision to shift our entire political operation (all five active members) to support a longshot political novice. We were committed to working for Republican nominee Sarah Davis in her bid to become the State Representative for southwest Houston. It seemed clear to me that Sarah Davis represented the future of the Party: a refreshing young candidate eager to listen to the concerns of the next generation, a successful female lawyer ready to alter the perception of a Texas politician, a self-described “rational Republican” willing to buck her Party’s establishment in support of progressive policy prescriptions.
The Iowa Caucuses can majorly affect politics. The first look of what candidates, real Americans are backing plays a major role in how the rest of America sees the candidates. The media attention Iowa gets also influences the rest of America. After the 2016 Iowa Caucuses the tops candidates are now what names are shown in news articles to catch people’s attention, since those candidates are now seen as the leaders even though it is still early in the election (Clark, 2007; Andrews, Bloch…, 2016; Collinson, 2016; Naft,
In her widely watched 2010 TED talk “Why We Have Too Few Women Leaders” (currently with more than 1.5 million views) Sheryl Sandberg, currently Chief Operating Officer of Facebook (and the first woman to serve on Facebook's board) and formerly Vice President at Google, shares her experience of being one of the rare women in top global management positions and offers advice to women who would like to succeed in their corporate careers. In the 15-minute video, Sandberg asks how we can fix the problem of having too few women in top leadership positions in spite of many advances in women’s rights being made. She argues that the solution lies with women themselves, as individuals, and the messages they need to tell themselves and their daughters. This entails three steps: (1) ‘sit at the table’, meaning women should negotiate for themselves more assertively and stop underestimating their abilities; (2) ‘make your partner a real partner’ and establish shared/equal responsibilities between partners at home (i.e. with raising children and housework); and (3) ‘don’t ‘leave’ before you leave’, which means continuing to work at the best of your abilities (i.e. ‘leaning in’ instead of ‘leaning back’ when the possibility of having a child is entertained) until
