In 1810, Kamehameha united the Hawaiian Islands for the first time. Kamehameha was a brave and strong warrior. The brave and strong warrior started to invade the Hawaiian Islands from 1795. The interesting thing about Kamehameha being the conqueror of all the islands was that he was not born into a position to be the chief of any islands. Kamehameha was an effective leader because he was kind, intelligent and had a healthy relationship with his people. Kamehameha was an effective leader because he was kind and humble. Kamehameha is a good example of kindness because he cared for his people. As a result, he enforced the kapu and made another kapu named mamalahoe, which was a kapu for punishing robbery and murder with death. This is an example that both remained and changed after the unification. This example was a good action that Kamehameha took. He was known as an intelligent person because he was able to benefit himself and his people. For example, Kamehameha started to charge visiting ships because he knew Hawai’i was a stopover and other places did so. This is something that changed after the unification. This was a good change because it resulted in receiving new goods like food and animals. Lastly, Kamehameha was an effective leader because of his positive and healthy relationship with his people. He was able to build healthy relationships by an extraordinary action from a king. The action was Kamehameha taking part of public work like banking up taro patches himself. This was a change after the unification because no other kings before took an action like this before. It was a good change because it helped people respect and favor Kamehameha as a good leader than the other kings who did not help their people
