Kanye Omari West is without a doubt one of the greatest musicians of our time. During his career he has won 21 Grammys, published eight albums and has sold has sold over 132 million copies of his albums. West has been very successful both commercially and critically. However, Kanye West isn’t loved by everyone. During his celebrity career he has become known for his controversial statements and actions, calling himself “Yeezus” for example. He is one of the most awarded, critically acclaimed, commercially successful and controversial artists of all time. So here is his story. Kanye was born on the 8th of June, 1977 in Atlanta, GA. His father Ray West, was a photojournalist and his mother, Donda, was an english professor teaching at Clark Atlanta University. At the time, Chicago also had quite the hip hop scene, in which Kanye became very interested in. In seventh grade he was already rapping and writing compositions. He even persuaded his mother to get him a cheap studio setup, so that he could create music. After highschool Kanye attended an art school, but dropped out to start his musical career. He started out as a beatmaker in the mid-90s, making beats and backing tracks for local artists.
