Abstract: Kashf Foundation is one of the premier wealth management organizations in Pakistan operating with 178 branches in almost every town of the country lending 342,000 clients their financial and developmental products since 1996. Since the very first day of its inception, Kashf Foundation Management aimed to hit on the bull’s eye of micro financing industry of the region (Asia Pacific)being competitive as well as sustainable and they explain sustainability as “almost zero reliance on Donors and financial services providers”. Currently they are prone to strategic issues regarding expansion of its portfolio, Security of lending methodology, Low PAR (Portfolio at risk) and maximization of deposits.

Internal Analysis

5.1 SWOT Analysis

Strengths: First mover advantage taken by addressing financial issues of female population. Kashf acquire highly motivated and vision driven team and interestingly 70% of the staff are females who have strong relationships with their clients. International recognition and long lasting relationships with donors are also key strengths of Kashf Foundation. Deep outreach and social services makes it different from the competitors.

Weaknesses: Lending methodology is too much vulnerable because of no collateral provided by the customers. Too much difficult to recover the loan losses could be another weakness.

Opportunities: Low GDP per capita, endless unbankable population, less opportunities for female entrepreneurs and long range of cottage industry are the main opportunities for expansion of Kashf Foundation’s business.

Threats: Kashf Foundation may prone to threats like political instability, Islamic Radicalism and inconsistence Govt policies.
