Katie Ledecky. A role model, an athlete, an Olympian. Even though she is only 19, Katie Ledecky was a noble figure to everyone. (Source #1) She stands as a role model even though she might not realize it. Katie Ledecky created world records and memorable choices, while persisting to grow and live as an independent figure to all women, at the same time impacting society by swimming and illuminating life for others.

Katie created world records and memorable choices. According to Katie, the passion you have for a sport is more important than how good you are at it. “My faith has always been important to me. It defines who I am.” says Katie. (Source #4) There are young swimmers out there that love her, and she knows that, so she tries to inspire them on social medias. “There are a lot of young swimming fans that are on Instagram, so I try to respond or post things that they like.” Katie says. (Source #4) Katie won several awards for female race/athlete of the year, was the youngest American swimmer in the 2012 Olympics, broke many of her own records, and is known as a swim star among many swimmers. Katie just kept improving. Starting at the age of six, she was a little bit older to start. Yuri Suguiyama was her trainer, at the Curl Burke Swim Club. But, Yuri left when Katie was still training. He left when there was an offer to be a coach at the University of California, and he took it. Even though her old coach was gone, she still trained with another coach, Bruce Gemmell, and that shows a sign of true persistence. (Source #1) Almost a decade later, Katie was swimming in the Olympics. Katie kept persisting and eventually dominated the 400 freestyle in the Atlantic Classic.
