These Districts have specific tasks that contribute to the overall well-being of the empire. During the Opening Ceremonies, Katniss becomes known as the girl who was on fire, thanks to Cinna's costume. Peeta reveals his crush on her to the world, and while she thinks it is a gimmick, he truly has feelings for her that he makes clear throughout the Games. Katniss always tries to fight fairly in the arena, even befriending a twelve-year-old named Rue who reminds her of her younger sister. They face constant danger in the arena, both from the Gamemakers and from fellow tributes. Though at first Katniss thinks Peeta is working against her, it eventually becomes clear that he has been trying to protect her, and when the Gamemakers change the rules so that two tributes from the same district can win, she sets off to find him. He is dying, but she is able to get the medicine he needs and saves him. Once they are a team it is easier for both of them to get gifts from their sponsors because they pretend to be in love. They finally go back to the lake to satisfy the Gamemakers' need for a showdown, but are horrified and surprised at the vicious genetically altered mutations that represent the dead tributes. At the last moment, the Gamemakers try to pit them against one another, but Katniss and Peeta's willingness to die for each other cause them to declare both victors. They are ecstatic to go home,
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a dystopian novel placed in the future where northern America is still standing, and after countless wars, the country of Panem is what stands, it is divided into 12 districts with the capital, and districts 1, 2, 3, etc, and the lower the number the poorer the district is. And since people in the capitol are so bored of life, they host the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games consists of
Essential to overcoming adversity is the ability to cause change in yourself and others. In the book, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Katniss Everdeen, has to learn to be strong and brave in a crisis. This helps her to survive the Hunger Games, because it gives her more faith especially when the price of losing her family is on the line. Ultimately, Collins shows that Bravery and strength leads to a successful person and can help one survive in something life changing.
A young girl named Prim sister of Katniss was elected to be in the Hunger games but Katniss volunteered for district 12. District 12 is a poor district compared to District 2 because District 2 has won more Hunger Games than any other district. Katniss has a good skill at archery. Peeta is the male participant and has a crush on Katniss ever since they were five years old. Gale loves Katniss and hangs out with her a lot and when Peeta and Katniss were in the Hunger Games, they made love and Gale became jealous.
The novel takes place in Panem, a nation made up of an upper-class metropolis known as the Capitol, as well as twelve servile districts that surround it. These districts are oppressed and exploited by the Capitol, which holds a lottery each year in order to choose “tributes” for a competition called the Hunger Games. Through this drawing, the Capitol selects a boy and a girl from each district and forces them to fight within a massive arena until there is only one tribute left alive. The Capitol claims that the event is both punishment for a rebellion from the districts and a memorial for those lost during the revolt, but presents it as an exciting spectacle that is televised all around Panem. The Capitol holds the Hunger Games in order to keep the districts in line, viewing those living in them as uncultured dangers to society who could rebel the moment they feel empowered.
When Rue died she covered Rue in flowers and braided her hair with flowers. In the end, Katniss and Peeta were going to end their lives together by eating Nightlock berries. So there would be no winner for this year's games. These are some of the ways Katniss shows how she is standing up to the capital.
This is made evident to the reader when Katniss says “I hate seeing him like this I have to go.” The use of internal monologue highlights and provides Katniss’s thought about Peeta. Thus it can be seen that Katniss is a helpful hero that has the courage to sacrifice her life for those in
For most, not being killed by twenty-three other teens in the vicious Hunger Games would be a good thing, right? Not for Katniss Everdeen, who miraculously won the 74th annual Hunger Games alongside her so-called star-crossed lover, Peeta Mellark. The Hunger Games is an annual event of the taking of twenty-four teens from the twelve districts that kill each other until there is one victor. In the second book, Catching Fire, Katniss and Peeta have to travel the districts on the Victory tour to greet the families of the lost tributes. For them, it’s just another thing to remind them of the horror and tragedy of the games.
In the dystopian novel The Hunger games by Suzanne Collins takes place in a land once known as North America now called Panem a shining capital surrounded by twelve districts. For this task I will be presenting about Katniss Everdeen from the hunger games and how she is a tragic hero and I will be relating this back to the greek hero Oedipus. What makes a hero, a hero as stated by the reproject “Are people who transform compassion (a personal virtue) into heroic action (a civic virtue). In doing so, they put their best selves forward in service to humanity. A hero is as an individual or a network of people that take action on behalf of others in need, or in defense of integrity or a moral cause” (prezi.com). As you all know Katniss is the main character of hunger games and is identified as a tragic hero from the beginning to the end of the story.
What would have happened if Katniss did not win the Games, and never came back to Prim, or What would have happened if Katniss did not volunteer? Luckily in The Hunger Games Katniss does win for District 12 and gets back home to Prim. In Suzanne Collin’s The Hunger Games, Katniss is the main character while also being the narrator of the story. She is shown to be emotionally detach and straight forward. Her main goal throughout The Hunger Games was to survive win for herself, Prim, and Rue.
Mockingjay The book that I read was Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. Mockingjay is a book about a girl named Katniss Everdeen, also known as the girl on fire, who is still alive after her home was demolished. Her close friend, Gale has also survived everything the Capitol has thrown at their district, district 12.
“The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins is a suspenseful and frightening story about a 16 year old girl, Katniss everdeen who is born into a small village called District 12. The capitol, which controls the districts hosts an annual Hunger Games each and every year. Two tributes, a boy and a girl from each district are chosen between the ages of 12-18 to compete against 22 other tributes, but only one can win. Katniss is not chosen, but her younger sister Prim is chosen at only 12 years old. Katniss volunteers in Prim 's place and is now in the hunger games.
Cinna: Significant Presence “‘I want the audience to recognize you when you’re in the arena,’ says Cinna dreamily. ‘Katniss, the girl who was on fire.’” (67). Cinna is Katniss’s stylist, friend, and biggest supporter. The 74th Hunger Games is his debut as a Hunger Games stylist, and so, due to his newcomer status, he is assigned to District 12 and Katniss. However, Cinna reveals that he asked for District 12, most likely because it appeals to his underdog nature.
After Katniss and Peeta have been selected, they say their goodbyes and leave away on a train. Katniss and Peeta compete in the Games together. Katniss uses her knowledge of hunting and archery to survive, and the two become the winners after getting the rules changed to allow two people to be able to win instead of only letting one person
On the other hand, there is Capitol who has political control in the nation of panem. The story starts when each district must offer a male and female between the ages of 12-18 at a public reaping as a penance for their uprising. The tributes which are male and female shall be delivered to the Capitol and then transferred to a public arena where they will fight with other district until a lone victor remains. This tradition called the hunger games. The story centers was coming from poor district 12 where Katniss and Peeta as their tributes.
