Choo Choo! This is the sound of the college train approaching. It’s time to say goodbye to high school and see what the world has to offer. Hop on this train to go to different places, meet new people, and achieve many things. The two potential stops on my train are Kent State University and the University of Cincinnati. Both of these colleges are around the same price, size, and ranking but are in opposite locations with different atmospheres. Kent State is located in northeast Ohio and the University of Cincinnati is located in southwest Ohio. Although Kent State and Cincinnati are very similar in most areas; overall, I prefer The University of Cincinnati. The big downside of college for the common person is the extreme cost of tuition. Kent State also offers over 700 scholarships to help with the total expenses of college (“Beyond”). Cincinnati’s cost runs a little more expensive, but not enough to count as a negative aspect. The total cost of the University of Cincinnati is $21,750. Tuition costs $11,000 while the room and board is $10,750. Cincinnati also offers a good amount of scholarships. Some are even added on automatically just for applying (“2015-16 Costs”). An important issue with attending college is finding a college with a top program in your field of study. Finding a college with a good track record adds a sense of reliance and dependence on the school, which aids to the early doubts about picking a college.
