Question II: Adam Audrey v. Kevin Swanson
In order to regulate the alarming increase popularity of cosmetic surgery, Congress enacted the Federal Cosmetic Surgery Protection Act (FCSPA). Kevin Swanson, the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is charged with the enforcement of FCSPA. Under this legislation “A person is not permitted to undergo a major cosmetic surgery procedure, except where necessary for the physical health of the person or to correct a major physical abnormality that interfere with normal appearance, unless approved by Congress a Cosmetic Surgery Approval (CSA) panel created at each facility licensed to perform cosmetic surgery”.

Maria Andrews is a junior at Hendricks High School, located in the district of Podunk. As a junior, Maria was Vice President of the student body and was an active member of the school community. On April, when the yearbooks became available for review, Maria noticed that the picture of her fellow classmate, Amber Green, was missing. Later, Maria found out that Amber’s picture had not been printed because she was wearing a tuxedo. As a result, on April 10 during the student body campaigns for student body present, Maria announced her candidacy and her “See the Big Picture” platform advocating that she would improve the school for “everyone”. As a campaign, strategy, Maria wore a tuxedo the next 3 days. Out of the three days, the first was uneventful. In the last two, however, teachers reported that their classes had been disrupted by Maria’s choice of wardrobe. Worried by the upcoming Advance Placement (AP) examinations, the teachers who had been irritated by the disruption Maria’s wardrobe was causing, decided to do something about it. On Friday of that week, Maria again wore a tuxedo, and as a result, Maria was not allowed into her class and was sent to the principal’s office. Principal Belding suspended Maria for five days and was prohibited from running for student body president the next year. Maria then sued Principal Belding alleging that he had violated her right to free speech protected under the First Amendment.
In the courts, the District Court found in favor of Maria, while the Court of Appeals reversed the ruling of the District. This case will soon be heard at the Supreme Court. The following paragraphs will provide an analysis of the First Amendment issues posed in this

State of Florida The main issue in this case is whether the State of Florida violated procedural due process by depriving individuals of their basic constitutional rights by not allowing marriage of shorted individuals. These articles and amendments work as the bridge that connects the structure of the present-day American Government. But at this present moment, the dream has been shattered with media coverage shown around the world of the equality aspect being destroyed. The police brutality against minorities and African Americans especially have contrasted with the structure built by the founding fathers. This may have been different if the school had created a forum of some sort which was separate from the curriculum and allowed all students to post their opinions. If someone was silenced on that site then there would be a violation of rights, however, that is not the case. Marta Salinas’ realistic fiction story “The scholarship Jacket”, takes place at a small school in Texas. Martha, a straight A plus student, was finally in 8th grade, her year to receive the valedictorian jacket. There are many troubles leading up to Martha receiving the jacket, such as the teachers changing the policy to make her pay $15. This changed the meaning of the jacket because it was no longer a reward. Marta Salinas created the theme that hard work pays off, she displays this theme by showing how Martha feels with point of view, and foreshadowing.
The students were asked to remove the armbands by school officials and when the students refused they were suspended. The concern is that the students First Amendment Rights were violated, specifically their free speech. The Des Moines, IA school district argued that the students First Amendment Rights were not violated because their actions created a disruption to the school environment. The parents appealed the school district’s decision through each of the federal courts and ultimately, landed at the US Supreme court.
Censorship of The First Amendment This paper will discuss how censorship denies citizens of the United States our full rights as delineated in the First Amendment. It will outline how and why the first amendment was created and included in the Constitution of the United States of America. This paper will also define censorship, discuss a select few legal cases surrounding freedom of speech and censorship as well as provide national and local examples of censorship.
Young adults who want to have plastic surgery often have a different intention and goal than adults. They decide to have plastic surgery to improve any physical features they feel are troublesome or imperfect. If these imperfections were left uncorrected, they could affect the teen later in life. Teens should be allowed to have corrective cosmetic surgery, because it can help improve self-confidence and self-esteem and it can help medically.
Betty mentions that more than style preferences, the girl’s behavior represented group membership for them. In other words, each group was aware that their style was in opposition and try to maintain their symbolic boundaries as an important tool for distinction. Most important, Bettie points out that their style preferences became to represent a categorical definition for the school personal. This category being the assumption that the preps were innocent and pure, while las chicas mature and low class. Thus, Betty claims that rather of seeing their style as markers of class distinction, the school personal saw las chicas’s performance as evidence of their heterosexual interest.
Magazine advertising began in June 1826 when a French newspaper was the first ever to put paid advertisement on Its pages. At the beginning of the 19th-century ads in magazines weren’t as much as popular as now because paid advertisements back then had a special tax. But shortly the invention of the rotary press, the number of magazines who increased their pages with advertisements encouraging the buyer of their product are so many. At that time, magazines just became available to the middle-class people, not just the rich ones. Therefore, magazines sales increased so much and a lot of copies are made.
In Martha’s personal narrative, “The Scholarship Jacket,” Martha Salinas shares her experience when she has earned the scholarship jacket but almost loses it to a less deserving peer. In the beginning, 14 year old Martha, is attending in a small Texas school in 8th grade. Martha knows she would get the scholarship jacket because she has earned straight A’s for the past 8 years. Forgetting her PE bag in one of her classrooms, she overhears a conversation between her history teacher, Mr.Schmidt, and Mr. Boone, her math teacher. When she hears they were arguing about her and who would get the scholarship jacket, Martha became shocked and ran.
