Individual and Team Success
Along with Magic Johnson, who also entered the NBA in 1979 with the Los Angeles Lakers, Larry Bird was a key figure in revitalizing the league in the 1980s. The Celtics and Lakers dominated, with one team or the other, or both, appearing in every NBA championship throughout the decade.
Bird was already known after two years in the league for consistent, clutch scoring and tenacious defense, which seemed especially uncanny as he was not particularly fast on his feet; instead, Bird developed a reputation for not merely responding to his opponents' moves, but anticipating how they would unfold ahead of time. His concentration and composure were unrivaled as well, and he established himself as one of the most unshakable and driven players in the NBA.

The Ethos of Egos Michael Jordan, has scored more points (5,987) in the playoffs than any other player in the history of the NBA. There are many facts and statistics that one could site in regard to basketball, but I believe that this one is the most important. The playoffs are when it counts. A team could win every single game in the regular season, but if they slip up even a little in the playoffs, all those regular season wins become obsolete. That is why Michael Jordan being the all-time leading scorer in the playoffs marks him as the best player to ever play the game.
Did you know that Michael Jordan averaged about thirty points a game, and retired with six NBA championships. The debate between who the best basketball player of all time has been going on for many years. Two of the names that come up a lot in this conversation are Michael Jordan and Lebron James. Many of the reasons why this decision can never be agreed on is because of many things. Those things including statistics, how many NBA championships have been won, and what you have been awarded with by the league and sports analysts throughout your career.
Through Michael Jordan’s athletic success on the court, he was able to make himself and his brand into a cultural icon, which had a great impact on the game of basketball, fashion, marketing, and the economy in America. Before Jordan took on the rest of society, he was focussed on the game of basketball. Jordan was the face of the NBA. He took the game to new heights through his game changing performances. The games in the NBA are evolving, and Michael Jordan was the man who changed the game. Michael Jordan had actually learned to overcome failure several years before starting his career in the NBA. In 1978 he was cut from the basketball team at Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina. Instead of giving up, he worked hard to improve his game.
No matter what he is doing at every moment he spends doing something he does it with a passion and competes no matter what. Michael Jordan was also a very nice person he was passionate, and would always bring you up if you 're feeling down or low. American novelist and basketball player Michael Jordan used his life to write and discuss drive, ideas on being a better person, and being an individual within his novel “Driven from within”. Another factor of what inspired him was his willingness to become the greatest which encouraged him to do better each time. "That 's how I would think everyone would go into it. You want to be the man, you know, not the best of the moment, but the best who ever set foot on a basketball court," said Kobe Bryant (Biography Today 54). Kobe brought out the best in people and he wanted to have a positive effect to the people around him and supported him in his life. His goal was to be one of the greatest, but he also wanted to influence people.
