It is my desire to become a member of Kappa Lambda Chi Military Fraternity, Inc., to once again have the brotherhood and comradery that I was able to experience while in the Army. Promoting the values, lesson and knowledge I attained during my military service as wells as those set forth in Kappa Lambda Chi’s mission, is something I encourage when mentoring children on daily basis in my job as a school resource officer. My current position allows me to interact with people from all walks of life, providing me with an avenue to inspire those around me. Becoming a member of Kappa Lambda Chi enables me to further my personal knowledge, while being another avenue for me to impart wisdom, promote fidelity and encourage high ambition to today’s youth
At my high school, the Beta Club is the most elite, respected, and prestigious club. It is filled with the leaders, the doers, the hard-working, and the individuals who turn their dreams into reality. It is not for everyone, and in our ever-changing society, that is clear. Most people today do not like to rise up to the ever-growing challenge of leadership. It takes a certain kind of person to be a good leader, and the Beta Club has greatly helped me in doing so. By active community service, leadership roles, and hard work, I have learned the incredible importance of academic achievement, character, leadership, and service. Through these things, I have been substantially prepared by the Beta Club to serve others as I depart high school and
My top five strengths are adaptability, relator, maximizer, empathetic and strategic. It was not surprising to confirm my top five strengths because, in my work and social interactions, I find that I love relating with others and yearn to understand their situations and take them in that light. However, I am also a practical person who likes planning and looking at an issue from all perspectives. I, therefore, believe that I strike a balance as I am not rigid, neither am I too spontaneous, but most of all I try as much as possible to deal with a situation on its merit to maximize on positive outcomes.
Leaders possess different strengths that allow them to succeed in their career or life. The Clifton Strengths Finder Assessment helped identify my top strengths and how to lead with my strengths in order to further develop them. My top five strengths were competition, positivity, winning others over (WOO), harmony, and achiever. Based on the meaning of each strength, I related to all them, however, I was surprised by some of them.
I am studying a Psychology degree and this field I have chosen really interests me because I have a passion for helping people. Generally, I am that type of person to put other's happiness and well-being before my own, because it makes me feel like I have a sense of purpose. Also, since I was a little girl I have always been so fascinated with the way people interact, behave, think and feel. I always asked 'why?' and I still do to this very day. No one person is the same as another, we all interact, behave, think and feel differently, and I think this is what amazes me the most.
Building an Empire becomes problematic when the colonizers know nothing about the territory being colonized. Britain began colonizing India in the 1700s, completely ignorant about the people of India and their cultural and religious beliefs. Ignorance comes from a lack of knowledge. This lack of knowledge can be by choice, like in this situation. Despite their ignorance, Englishmen still came into India with an arrogant attitude. They believed they were superior to the people of India, therefore it did not matter what the people of India believed or how British actions made them feel. In “The Mark of the Beast”, Rudyard Kipling uses symbolism to portray ignorance and arrogance in India brought on during its colonization by Britain. The character of Fleete exemplifies that ignorance and insensitivity, and he ultimately pays a grave price.
But what they don’t know is the unforgettable lessons and benefits that it could teach you. Alpha Kappa Delta Phi sorority Inc. taught me so much about myself in all angles. The five pillars- sisterhood, scholarship, service, leadership and Asian Awareness- resonated within me, but it was the strong passion of all my sisters for each of these pillars that really drew me in. From the sorority, I’ve learned so much about networking, business and communication. Through my experience of akdphi, I’ve held many leadership positions including fundraising chair, corresponding secretary, creative director and the Greek delegate of relations. Akdphi had given me the opportunity to further my leadership skills and maintain an excellent GPA. After joining akdphi, I have been swamped by an infinite network of people who welcome you with open arms. At that time, that was exactly what I needed. This experience has played an enormous role in shaping who I am today. Because of this sorority, I’ve experienced unconditional love, became an even more resilient individual, and was awarded with the honor of being a part of such an amazing sisterhood. Although I no longer see them as much as I used to, I know that wherever we are and wherever life takes us, the bond that we have is
As I am quickly approaching the end of my senior, I am looking back at how far I have come since freshman year and everything that Henley High School has helped me accomplish in my life. In preparation for the life that every senior must experience after school, the senior capstone project was put in place to help seniors find out what they would suit them as career and give them some of the necessary tools in achieving that. Part of the capstone was earning service hours at a non profit organization, that can go on a resume. With serving came a facilitator, who guides one’s service, and also the challenges and success of the service itself. To Provide help on future careers, Henley High School also provided an opportunity to take the CIS test
I was at baseball practice. I was in the outfield, the overgrown and bee infested outfield.
I am e-mailing in reference to Jailin's Story Motions Graph assignment and Motion Test. I know that the quarter is ending and I have done very well with keeping up with his assignments but the Story Motion Graph I must have missed. Is there any way he can spend some time making this up or even e-mail it to you this weekend. I am also concern about his Motion Test grade that was just placed in. I know he was not as prepared for it as he expected. The assignment was added on the 18th but the grade did not show up until maybe a day or two ago. I would like to have him retake this test. As indicated I know the quarter is ending and I can even have Jailin at school on Monday for the workday if I need to. Please let me know your
Upon completion of the Strengths Finder survey, I learned I have five areas of strength (Clifton & Anderson & Schreiner, 2006). These strengths are; achiever, communication, arranger, positivity, and ideation. I must admit, before taking this survey there were doubts surrounding its accuracy. By nature, I am a sceptic of this type of personal inflection conducted by an outsourced company. Prior to taking it, I kept telling myself, there is no possible way that a simple survey can give me insight on my inner workings. I could not have been more wrong.
My clearfit report was interestingly very true it was off by just a bit but overall it did represent me well. one of the parts that really resonated with me was coping with change. for most people change can be very difficult. An example where I had to deal with change in the workplace was I had a manager for 2 years who was very laid back and easygoing but one day I came in to work and we have new boss who is really strict and by the book. in order to keep my job and boss satisfied I had to cope with many changes in the workplace she was putting into effect. I had to change my work habits to please the new manager. Another strength I have is that I am able to work well in different kind of situations and conditions. when needed I am able to
(Josh) Pete Cataldo, a representative from WWP, was directly referenced through the creditability handed out from the nationwide known agency known as Business Wire, “The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors.” (web)The wounded warrior project was developed in 2003 and directly assisted veterans that were wounded while serving in combat theatre in the middle east. The organization over the years has grown efficiently large and nationally recognized while
Dodgeball; the greatest elimination game on Earth. What would you think if you could never play it again? I, for one, would be crushed that could never play it again. Many principals in Elkton, Maryland banned dodgeball because they believed it was inappropriate. They removed it from the P.E. curriculum just recently. I believe that dodgeball shouldn’t be taken out of the curriculum because it helps them be more aware, teaches them about life, and it leads to more games being taken away.
Throughout my childhood and adolescent years, I always had a dream of joining the military. Though it was a choice, I still did not have any inside information of what it would be like, and the requirements and specifics of the Army. It wasn't until 2005 when I decided to join the United States Army that all my concerns and questions were answered by a recruit; and I was guided through the whole process to enter and prep for the Army. If it was not for the confidences and motivation of my recruiter back in 2005, I might have not made my leap and probably would not be in this uniform today.
