Chapter 1 The Problem Introduction The benefits and privileges of every contractual worker are very essential to the workers in order to ensure that the toil and labor of these workers are being paid back. This will give security to the workers who give their time and effort in the scorching heat of the sun and some in the danger of their workplace just to work for the means of everyday living of their own families. Contractual workers are considered also as an asset to our national economy. They are the workforce that will work in hardship just for the quality of the service and products they are working on. Presidential Decree number 442 also known as the “Labor Code of the Philippines” which was issued on May 1, 1974 declared that the welfare or the benefits and privileges of every contractual worker should be protected. This study will be useful in such means as being used as their related literature in their researches in the future. It will serve as their reference in their research related to this study. Delimitation of the Study This study is delimited to the level of awareness and availment of the benefits and privileges of the contractual workers of Dole Company Inc. situated in Barangay Lilingayun, Valencia City, Bukidnon. The researchers will collect data through conducting a survey. Adopting and then contextualizing the Omamalin (2003) questionnaire into the level of awareness and degree of availment of the benefits and privileges of the contractual worker. This includes the one hundred seventy one (171) contractual employees as the respondents. They are chosen through random sampling technique of gathering data. The research method is quantitative research. This is to certify that the given threats and rights of the workers are really exercised and have the equal opportunity to receive the payment or the hardship after the work has done. Definition of
