As you run down the field cradling the lacrosse ball in your stick, it feels like every other girl is barreling toward you at full speed. There is no better feeling, though, than to shoot the ball and watch it sail past the goalie into the net. Growing up in Baltimore, lacrosse is practically a religion. However, I never really felt any interest in lacrosse. In the Spring of my junior year, one of my friends begged me to try out for my high school’s lacrosse team. I had no experience at all with playing so I was apprehensive about trying out. The first couple of practices, we worked on ball skills: throw, catch, repeat. I dropped virtually all of them and was ready to give up. As the season went on, I spent hours at home bouncing the lacrosse
Meanwhile, Lacrosse is similarly played in history as it was played and invented by Native North Americans. The purpose of Lacrosse is to solve tribal disputes, please their gods and honour themselves. (History) These purposes and reasons are similar to the ones shown in “The Orenda”. In history, Lacrosse is a problem solver to help settle disputes between tribes as Native North Americans were introduced to new cultures and religions. This period was very crucial to First Nations because they had to connect together as a family. This is because it was also a time period when the Europeans tried to convert First Nations into Christianity with Residential Schools. Who is better, Duke or North Carolina? For my Dad, a former Duke football player; when he is asked about Duke he becomes capricious. His answer is “Forever Duke!” and he says this comment with authority and no regret because he believes that Dukes better. Lacrosse has been around for decades, played by those who look for a real sport. It’s been said to be the fastest game on two feet, which is no understatement. It requires strength, endurance, and heart to be able to play the game of lacrosse. All these reasons are why I love to play lacrosse and why it has been my favorite sport for years. I can remember when I first started back in second grade, I didn’t think about why I was playing, it was just another sport to me. But as I continued with the sport, I soon realize I was playing for my town and for the people watching me. It didn’t take long for lacrosse to become my favorite sport and my main passion. Since I loved playing it so much, I was curious to learn about the history of lacrosse and how it all started. I wanted to know what the original rules were and how they change over time, what they played with, and most of all what they played for, so I did some research.
The original game of Lacrosse originated from the American Indians. It started during the European contact, this was around 1492. The rules were simple, that the ball may not be touched by hand while throwing and catching the ball with netted rackets, trying to make it in the net for a goal. These rules were created by the tribes Seneca and Mohawks in the year of 1763. Back then they sometimes would use Lacrosse to toughen up young boys who were going to go fight for their country.
The popularity of sports and activities played during the Renaissance influenced the evolution of modern sports and how they are now played. Sports played during the Elizabethan era evolved from the idea of “harmonious fusion of the mind and body” (Covington). From tennis to soccer, the popularity of sports grew and included people of all social classes, an occurrence which eventually influenced and eradicated status boundaries that restricted social mobility. Of the many sports played during the Renaissance, some became obsolete while others evolved into popular sports played today.

With Football there are many positions offensively and defensively which are best to be known for playing or watching and especially coaching. Football started out as the AFL and then merged with the NFL which formed the Super Bowl. But let 's not forget the small amount of women in powder puff football. With football being so famous more and more rules are developed. But the main part that makes football so interesting is its history without it, you would have never know how the super bowl came to be and the wonderful coaches that made the game competitive and filled with life long experiences.
