The Lads to Leaders program has helped me tremendously through many aspects of life. I have attended Lads for ten years now, and my final year is this March of 2016.
Every year, I have grown in knowledge and understanding of how to prepare for the activities we participate in. As I started to attend, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. As a second grader, the huge hotel with water fountains, arcade games, and a lot of people my age, really excited me! Even though I placed every year, I felt as if I was only going there to impress others and win these awards for my congregation by performing so well. However in 8th grade, that was all I thought lads to leaders was. Then I thought to myself why I am here, what is this really for, am I doing this to glorify myself or God? I began to ponder whether or not I really was doing anything in life for the

Ever since, I have grown in favor with the Lord. I understanding more as I prep my speeches for lads, look at the words in the songs I’m leading, or when it comes time for bible bowl, not just memorizing the verses but actually letting them sink in and take root. These practices have given me a better knowledge of both the bible and His will for me. The past few years it has become exceptionally easy for me to prepare a speech, correctly pitch a song, and recall verses. I believe it is because of the skills of diligence and study that I’ve been taught through this life changing organization. These past two years alone, I have had the opportunity to speak at 5 different congregations, some more than once. Every time I speak, I become more confident and comfortable without using notes. I’ve noticed that I am able to recall parts of God’s word as I’m speaking, and that I thought Id never think of and This has made my speeches both more relatable and
This experience helped me more about being the head of an organization. Being about of this club is very beneficial because it is basic preparation of becoming a leader. Being a leader of an organization such a DECA speaks volumes
Through this program I will get to know more of my peers that I might not always interact with. I can gain a better a knowledge of who they are. I will best serve as a member
Through the National Student Leadership Conference, I will be marching out of my comfort zone and learning qualities that will aid me in becoming a better leader. In my school there are numerous leadership opportunities, from being class president, to being a house captain, to planning a school wide event.
The boys and girls club has many great sports activities to join in to help get kids out of the street and become more active in their community. They are there for you when you need them the most and you make so many new positive friends through the activities they have. Camp voyageur was my favorite camp they made you feel wanted and you never felt left out the camp leaders helped you become a leader and made you feel more independent. Boys and girls club have shown me a lot in life and I want to further my education so that someday I can give back to them. With all of my reasons why I want to further my education the most important reason is so I can give back to my family and community one day.
At times the priest would speak quickly and miss certain cues of internal summaries. I learned great ways to improve my rhetoric and saw a pleasant way to incorporate controlled movement. Sharing messages that has affected your life profoundly is easier to convey to an
Leading people is an important skill that I believe is necessary in order to be successful in life. In my opinion there is no better way than NYLT to get this “once in a lifetime” experience. A leader cannot be a leader without followers, so I am committed to be an effective leader, starting with my troop. I would like to attend NYLT because I want to be able to lead other people and be successful. I believe that by attending NYLT I can better lead the troop and improve productivity amongst scouts.
Little Shy Issac, now knew what to think about before an interview and could easily do it for next year’s process if I decided to. I’ve attended numerous COLTs (Chapter Officer Leadership Training), a 24 hour FFA officer training that happens three times a year, learning about Time management, new ways to bring members to your chapter, brainstorming ideas, and the list goes on. Additionally, I’ve attended Peoria Mini Leadership camp’s, National FFA Convention, NDLC camp out’s, District CDE competitions, and local chapter officer training with a private session with former state FFA officers, and countless hours during both chapter and officer meetings. During and after each of these, I’ve learned how to enhance my abilities to become a better leader, to get to know my colleagues better and understand how they think, and most importantly, I’ve learned about what type of person I’d like to become and who I am. Not to mention the revamping of my social skills after being in an isolated area for countless months only talking to people I already know and are comfortable
By volunteering at my local church and helping with local service projects, I have realized the commitment and perseverance it takes to lead by example. At my local church I continue to help with the organization of my youth group. After speaking at church staff meetings for several months we made it our goal to improve the youth group by ensuring that children and teens of all ages were included and had an opportunity to participate. I was able to create a system where teens who attended high school were paired with a middle school individual of the church. This provided a sense of inclusiveness and made the youth group more enjoyable for everyone.
Leadership is being bold enough to provide a vision, and humble enough to recognize achieving it will take the efforts of many people. It means being an example, a contributor, and a motivator. Leadership is inspiring, and empowering a team to work towards a common goal. Leadership is understanding people's talents, and temperaments and creating an environment to let others soar to their highest potential. Through out my high school career leadership has been a big part of my life.
In the end of my seventh grade year I got recommended by my teachers to be a part of the National Youth Leaders Conference in Washington D.C.. During that conference I learned how to exhibit my gifts and talents and collaborate with other leaders.
Whether they apply the method or not there is very applicable knowledge to be taken away from this book. This applies to those who need to close their back door and retain their people coming and going in their church. Even those that need to reconstruct or repurpose their small groups Now looking into the future ministry and church planting this book is riveting to get an understanding of how to successfully engage, evangelize, establish, and equip not only the church but the unchurches. Getting people involved in ministry. This book brings about many simple and effective ideas to make the church growth and spiritual growth flow in a much smoother and proper
I would like to join NYC Ladders for Leaders because I believe this program could help me in various ways. First, it would help me gain more work experiences. Even though school is important, I believe work experiences are equally important. There are some skills and knowledge that cannot be learned in a classroom; for instance, in a classroom, we just read about how to respond to different situations. Undergoing the situation in real life can be very different and can teach us something we can’t learn in school.
At the end of junior year, a majority of the upperclassmen band members send in applications to become the next leaders of the band during marching season. These leaders are the role models that, as an upcoming senior, I intended to join. I couldn’t understand how I couldn’t get it. I spent hours after performances unloading supplies. I had perfect attendance for every afterschool practice since freshmen year and always turned everything in on time.
Reid and Hogan make very clear the pitfalls that preachers can find themselves in. There is a temptation to compromise the purpose of preaching. “There is significant pressure on preachers to energize, engage, and entertain listeners while also sharing profound insight.” (19) There is one thing missing in the previous statement, a need keep the Scriptures in mind, because preaching without the Scripture is not preaching anymore, it is just public speaking.
In the course of the year, due to the Peer Leadership program, I feel much more motivated. At the beginning, I was insecure and unable to carry out the responsibilities successfully. Many times I found myself out of place and expressing myself was a challenge since I did not feel confident. But I have been able to feel part of a group for the first time in a class at school. I can share with other peers and unwind more easily in front of them and out of class as well.
