1.1 Statement of the Problem In recent years, there are several environmental problems that emerge from the improper disposal of waste. Dispose of untreated waste especially industrial waste directly into the environment would produce numerous kinds of pollution problems such as odor, leachate, contaminated soil, and groundwater contamination. In addition, the long-term effect to the society, economy and environment would occur if appropriate waste management methods are not provided. Thus, environmental problem that comes from lack of waste disposal management should be considered as urgent. Landfill disposal system is one of the system that is applied to handle solid waste both non-hazardous and hazardous wastes. Better World Green (BWG) …show more content…

Akkhie Prakarn Public Company Limited (AKP): supporting in waste combustion in the incinerator. This study has mainly focused on the landfill disposal system which BWG use for disposal of the waste. It is the system for disposal of waste materials by burying the waste. Landfill is the oldest method of waste treatment and commonly used in several countries. Landfills were typically constructed in abandoned or unused quarries, mining voids, and borrow pits. A well designed landfill can be a hygienic and relatively inexpensive means of disposal of waste and not bring about pollution impacts. Another ordinary product of landfills is gas (principally methane and carbon dioxide), which is generated from anaerobic breakdown of organic waste, resulting in odor problems. After landfill has reached its capacity, Landfill mining and reclamation (LFMR) will be a solution that this study will be focused on. LFMR is a process whereby solid wastes which have previously been landfilled are excavated and processed. The function of landfill mining generally involves a series of mechanical processing operations designed to recover recyclable materials, combustible fraction, soil, and landfill space and to reduce the amount of landfill mass encapsulated within the closed …show more content…
