Synopsis: The movie that will be used for this film review is the movie directed by Jon Favreau, Elf (2003). This is a Christmas film which follows a man who was raised by elves to 30 years of age with no human contact who then finds himself traveling to the city of New York in hopes to find his long-lost father. The human elf, Buddy, was accidentally sent to the North Pole as a baby upon crawling into Santa’s Christmas sack while he was delivering presents to the orphanage one year where Buddy once lived. This, in turn, resulted in him being taken to the North Pole where he was then raised amongst Santa and his helpers from an infant.
He is visited by the three spirits of Christmas. He gets a visit by the spirit of Christmas past, the present, and the future! These three spirits are on a very difficult mission to help Scrooge get that happy, wonderful spirit. After three hours Scrooge will become a changed man who is ready for Christmas with his family and everyone else. I believe, though, that the spirit of the future changed him the most.
Every Christmas Eve my family reunites with a platter of food, all the children wear the pajamas and we all bake Christmas cookies and watch a Christmas, usually animated since the toddlers are watching. An hour before midnight, we organize the journey that Maria and Jose experienced
In ‘A Christmas Carol’, Dickens presents Ignorance and Want in a metaphorical fashion, depicting them as children. This is done in such a manner as to shock and appall the reader, leading to greater emotional investment. Throughout the extract’s entirety, Ignorance and Want are depicted as children, increasing the atmosphere of pessimism that surrounds them. Dickens describes the manner in which the Ghost of Christmas Present “brought two children” – by describing Ignorance and Want as “children”, Dickens creates the impression of innocence, vulnerability, and weakness.
Around this time of year, people are having “visions of sugarplums” dancing in their heads. They are in the Christmas Spirit. This is why I have “Santa Clause is Coming to Town” right after “In the Bleak Midwinter”. People always enjoy the story of Santa Clause, because of his generosity and jolliness. “He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf”.
Scrooge was the character that was always grumpy. He looked like a mean, miserable old man That hates the world. Scrooge was also a man who hated any happiness. He doesn't like Christmas until Three Ghosts shows him what he has done wrong.
In Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol Stave five, we see a changed Scrooge, he has decided to change after seeing what will happen to him if he doesn’t. He wakes up and shouts “I will live in the past, the present, and the future! The spirits of all three shall strive within me. O Jacob Marley! Heaven and the Christmas time be praised for this!
If there is fire in this tale of Christmas, there is water nearby; everything exists with a polar opposite. The spirits, while all aiming to accomplish the same goal, literally and figuratively show Scrooge both the good and the bad; the light and the dark. The first spirit is described as a “clear jet of light” which made everything “visible” (30). The spirit who is there to show him his past joyous Christmases, is also literally lighting the way.
Every once in awhile a horrible situation occurs expecting the worst to happen when in reality something good comes out of it, such as the events in the Walls family in the Glass Castle by author Jeannette Walls. An event that would of turned terrible but went another direction was when Rex and Rose couldn’t buy christmas gifts for the kids (pg.39). During that period the Walls were pretty poor and couldn’t afford to get each other gifts during the holiday’s. The result of this could 've ended in sadness and disappointment, but to spare that Rose and Rex told the kids the truth where Santa wasn’t real. Telling the kids that Santa wasn’t real made them feel apart of a secret other kids didn’t know, which made them feel special.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas and A Christmas Carol are two very similar stories. In the stories A Christmas Carol and How The Grinch Stole Christmas, there are two characters who are a good example of this. A Christmas Carol is a story about a grumpy old man named Ebenezer Scrooge who only cares about money and needs to be taught a lesson. The story teaches a very good lesson, and modern authors still draw from it’s storyline. They also draw from the lessons it teaches while people read it.
Scrooge was being very kind as a surprise. Scrooge then asked someone to deliver it and he asked to keep it anonymous. The Cratchit family was very pleased and surprised by the turkey. Scrooge then visited his nephew and his new wife.
After a while, the Ghost of Christmas Present lifts up his robe. Under it, are two poor and hungry children named Ignorance and Want. When Scrooge sees them he says, “ ‘Have they no refuge or resource?’ ” (Dickens 24). Scrooge is starting to care for others as he says this quote.
He and his family have barely any food, and to make matters worse, their son, Tiny Tim, is crippled. The next spirit, the spirit of Christmas future, shows Ebenezer how his own servants would steal from him and not shed one tear after he passes. It also shows Ebenezer how
They start out with an elderly Scrooge who has a terrible Christmas spirit. He is visited by his deceased business partner, Marley Jacobson, in an attempt to save his spirit from the same infection which destroyed his soul, greed. In order to do so, Marley sends three spirits, Past, Present, and Future, to
