Of course, if school started later, it would have to end late too. Most teens in high school have after-school activities, like work, volunteer work, etc., so it would be to hard to manage their time. However, school starting and ending
Well it could be because in the mornings they’re drowsy and not really wake yet. Imagine going down a road in the morning not have any sleep but 5 hours asleep? You're not really gonna be awake and not all of your senses will be active. All these accident rates could drop because if they get enough sleep and are more active before school they’ll be more awake.
This quote supports the fact that teenagers do not get the sleep that they need. High schools should consider having the school day start and end later for their students because it could improve the health, safety, and the academic achievement of their students. Not getting enough sleep could eventually lead to sleep deprivation, which could deteriorate the health of students tremendously. Research shows that sleep deprivation could lead to health problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke. By getting enough sleep it will increase student’s moods, and lower stress.
"We're going to look back on this time period and wonder why it took so long," said Phyllis Payne of Start School Later. This will help teens excel to their fullest and not be held down with lack of sleep. Many students don’t get the sleep they need to function throughout the day and many kids fall asleep in class says Bridget Shelton, a freshman at Seattle's Roosevelt High School. This is another reason why Park City High School should start at a later time.
However, with short breaks, that might not be possible as some businesses might not be willing to take on someone who will most definitely leave after just a few days. There are many reasons why school should not be all year around but there's also some reasons why school should be all year around. One reason is kids can get a lot more learning in then if school was regular. If some kids were having a hard time at home and they couldn't afford food they would atleast get breakfast and lunch. These are the main reasons why school should not be all year
Kids need a break from learning and from school. If we got a long break from school high schoolers could get jobs and actually work more hours than they would if they had to wait until they were out of school. If they had to wait until they were out of school they would only be working for a few hours. Then if we didn’t have school they could work more hours and make more money. We spend way too much time learning stuff when we aren't ever going to use half of it again.
Next, Implementing this four-day school week schedule can result in financial improvements from the decreased cost of maintaining school utilities, as well as improved student performances and lower absence rate. Next, Because there is many advantages such as increased finance and lower absence rate of the students, school district should shift their schedule to four-day school week. Now on, By adding a third day to the weekend, students can focus in their classes and perform better in school. Next, Many students and faculties miss school days to attend some significant events such as doctor’s appointment. Now on, Changing the school schedule to extra free day allows the people to attend these events without disrupting the attendance and not miss any school days so that they do not fall behind everyone else.
Sleeping Schools Countless students all over the US struggle to keep their eyes open throughout the day because school classes start too early in the morning. If we were able to give an hour to students in the morning, we would see an increase in their physical mentality, their academic skill level, and an overall happier lifestyle. Many people will argue that starting school too late in the morning will cause after school activities -- such as sports and other clubs -- no time to meet before the night ends. But I must mention that we don’t need to push the start time that much later to see a huge improvement on student’s test scores, overall grades, and a student’s mood. The current school start time is unacceptable when thought about logically, and we must make the changes to have school start at a later time.
As well as effecting teenagers home lives, it would effect those of the teachers greatly as well. Teachers already stay after school sometimes for two hours or more preparing for the rest of the school week. If we were released even at four, just one hour later than we are now, they may not be home until six or later. Those teachers with children would find this next to impossible. They need to be home to pick up their children and take them to any activities they may have, cook dinner, tidy the house, prepare for work the next day, and to just be a parent.
All teenagers need about 8-10 hours a sleep per night to function correctly in the morning. However, we need to learn responsibility since we are growing up and are young adults. Going to school later will just hold us back and disable us from learning responsibility and some of the main aspects of an adult. Going to school later also means getting out later which leaves no time for exter after school activities like sports. Getting out later will also not leave enough time to go jibs after school which is what some families depend on to put food on the table and a roof over their head.
Did you know that most car accidents involving teenagers happen in the morning? Part of the blame for these accidents is the fact that teenagers have to get up too early for school. I think the school start time should start one hour later than it currently does. If school start times were an hour later than the current start time then students can increase test scores, prevent morning driving accidents of teenagers, and have less absences at school.
