The Uses of Forensic Anthropology To understand the many uses of forensic anthropology, one must first know what it means. Forensic anthropology is defined as the examination of human remains (for law enforcement agencies) to determine the various unknown aspects of a murder. Forensic anthropology is a very important tool in the hands of an investigator. It can be used to determine many previously unknown factors in an investigation. Forensic anthropology is used every day and has many different purposes.
The subject I am looking into is torture and the first article I am looking at is Torture-The Case for Dirty Harry, written by Uwe Steinhoff. Uwe Steinhoff is arguing that torture might just be more justifiable and morally okay than what most people may think. Steinhoff’s first argument towards this point is that people kill other people, and some killings are justified. Therefore, considering that torture is seemingly better than being killed, torture should be justified in that way that some of these killings are justified.
The Case for Torture Wins Torture is it morally acceptable? Many have debated this argument but I would like to bring up two main conflicting view points from Michael Levin, and Marzieh Ghisai. Michael Levin is a Jewish law professor who wrote The Case for Torture where he advocates where torture is acceptable in some circumstances.
Have you ever wonder how does a crime scene investigator, known as a CSI, discover blood spatter on different fabrics, which is not visible to the human eye? The key is bluestar. According to the article “Influence of Bluestar Reagent on Blood Spatter Stain of Different Fabrics” by Arnon Grafit, bluestar is a “luminol-based reagent that is applied by spraying on surface.” Not only that, but “it helps obtain DNA and to analyze spatters patterns. By analyzing the article the reader is able to understand how bluestar works through the rhetorical techniques used.
Through the horrible torture and humiliation that the victims endured at Abu Ghraib, Americans expressed their anger towards the Muslim race through abuse and torture. As ] we sit comfortable in our homes watching TV, playing video games, relaxing, there are people who are having severe pain inflicted upon them in prisons in the Middle East, one of the worst of these prisons being Abu Ghraib. Abu Ghraib is a prison that is located on 280 acres of land twenty miles west of Baghdad that was shut down in April of 2014 (CNN). The CIA committed many acts of human rights violations in Abu Ghraib that included very inhuman methods of torture. Prior to 2003 the prison was used for detention purposes and did not have the level of inhuman acts going on as it did after 2003 till its close date.
In medieval times, torture was used to punish criminals, deter crime, and gather information. There were many different types of tortures, most of which were brutal and painful. At the time, torture was deemed necessary to maintain order. Laws were harsh and torture was severe, but effective form of punishment. Despite its effectiveness, torture was often an unfair and extremely cruel punishment, and should have been eliminated in all forms.

I agree with the International New York Times editorial staff “Editorial: Solitary Confinement Is Cruel and All Too Common” because the authors states statistics and facts about the outcome of inmates held in solitary for too long. While I understand that this measure is set to punish those who commit cries in society, incarceration should not be longer than a few year I agree with The editorial boards opinion, " Prisoners who have been held for 10 or more years will be moved to a special restricted unit with other inmates, where they can take educational courses and have normal human contact as they prepare to return to the general population." Therefore Incarcerating someone for years isolated in cell with a small window with no human

Solitary confinement is a punishment for the especially prisoners for violation of prison regulations, serious crime. Simply, confinement means jail in jail. The prisoners received it that will be kept in a cramped space, completely isolated from other prisoners for at least 22- 24 hours a day. However, solitary confinement is not simply a punishment.
Why the Issue is Important Solitary confinement, or in other words isolation, is the confinement of an inmate in a 80 foot cell or a special housing unit where he or she is completely secluded from everyone. In most cases, when an inmate is held in solitary confinement, they spend up to 23 hours of the day in a cell, and given an hour of free time in another small cell. The first experiment of solitary confinement started in 1834, and has been proceeding since then. When one is held in solitary confinement, they have very limited interaction with other individuals; they are denied phone calls, limited family visits, they have no personal property, and can suffer from insomnia and forms of brutality.
In Michael Levin’s “The Case for Torture”, he uses many cases of emotional appeal to persuade the reader that torture is necessary in extreme cases. There are many terms/statements that stick with the reader throughout the essay so that they will have more attachment to what is being said. Levin is particularly leaning to an audience based in the United States because he uses an allusion to reference an event that happened within the states and will better relate to the people that were impacted by it. The emotional appeals used in this essay are used for the purpose of persuading the reader to agree that in extreme instances torture is necessary and the United States should begin considering it as a tactic for future cases of extremity. One major eye catching factor of this essay is the repetitive use of words that imply certain stigmas.
