Lauren had to lie, “I f… forgot the stove on.” Lauren knew she shouldn 't had lied but that was only was they were getting out of the park. But it was too late, the “doctors” and “scientists” were watching their every move.They were about to leave but before they could the doctors and scientist had already advanced. An ambulance pulled over they both ran towards the ambulance Phillip had fell she looked back and yelled “Philip get up they 're right behind you.” While she was looking back at him and running at the same time, she was knocked out cold.
She woke up on a boat and there was a sign written in ink that sated “Boat to Canada” but there was something else Lauren couldn 't read. Lauren was scared and shaking nervously, she wanted to know where Philip was and what is happening to him. She was shaking so much that she thought the scientists and doctors would realize she 's awake, because she knew they didn 't want her awake at this time, so she had to force herself to sleep. Sherri had been struggling with morning sickness and thought that she should try taking medicine. She watched her husband that had just gotten back Europe place the medicine all the way on the top cubboard. Regardless of what drug was inside, if I saw someone put something out of reach I think I would be pretty hesitatent to just grab it right away when I did not feel well. There is a lot of emotion portrayed throughout "Live to Tell" by Lisa Gardner. The author uses suspense to show that Evans mom Victoria is fearful of what he would do if she did something to make him agitated.

Through the birth of her son, John, while living in the Reservation, Linda was able to overcome her conditioned response surrounding motherhood. While Linda is still ashamed of becoming pregnant and giving birth, she is able to admit that "Yes, a baby- and I was its mother" (Huxley 151).
