I’ve been told that I am a natural-born leader my whole life. I used to think leadership was simply about confidence, but it is comprised of so much more. Leadership encompasses values of collaboration, mutual respect, and the commonality of a goal. As I’ve gotten older, my definition of leadership has shifted as I have surrounded myself with strong leaders who not only encourage but inspire others to be better. Within the healthcare field, leadership is always evolving. The trajectory of someone’s life can change in an instant and having the ability to make informed decisions for not just one person, but for a group of people is what makes being a leader so important.
I have experienced this type of leadership, both during my time at Texas

After attending physical therapy for my __X Y Z_, I planned to become a Physical Therapist. It was interesting enough, and it seemed like the right choice for me. However, as more time passed, I felt lost and confused, trying to convince myself the original plan of being a Physical Therapist was the end goal for me. Despite the weekly contemplation of what I was going to do with my life, coupled with a few tears here and there, I was stubborn and terrified of changing direction. Through transferring, the pandemic, and other bumps in the road, I finally faced the reality that, although I loved healthcare, Physical Therapy school was not for me. While I was nervous to enter my Senior year after shifting direction, the relief I felt affirmed my decision. For the first time in years, instead of dreading the inevitability of going to school for something I knew was not the right fit, I was excited for the unknown path the future held. I knew I wanted to use my interpersonal skills to help others, I just needed a redirection to push me out of my comfort zone.
Amid my search, my job as a records technician was the driving force that led me to look into the Master of Health Administration. I finally had my ‘Aha!’ moment. The reason I was drawn to Physical Therapy in the first place was I wanted to help people the way I had been helped. The passion I have for helping others was the common denominator in what I was searching for in a career. The Master of Health Administration offers a way for me to focus that passion and my leadership skills to care for not just patients, but employees as
All of my life, I have dreamed of becoming a leader. Always wanting not only what’s best for me, but also for other people. In a position of leadership, I will find success, while providing a work atmosphere conducive to victory. I will have the opportunity to make a difference, and my voice will finally be heard.
The Physical Therapist Assistant is an amazing career I will like to go in because I’ll be helping everyone. I have the skill sets to become a great one because I hate seeing people sad and injure, and I’m ambitions on what I’m doing. The job offers great pay, benefits, job opportunities, and can move up to physical therapist. I’m already working for the Miami Heat and one day I will like to work for the basketball team. I love basketball, so working for the basketball team will be a great fit for me and a life time goal.
My first hand experience has made me become a person that always holds out a hand to someone in need. A degree in health can fulfill my own personal satisfaction by making a difference and improving
I have known for years that I wanted to work in the realm of health science. I knew that I wanted to do something in sports medicine. When I took a deeper look into sports medicine I learned that there are many areas of sports medicine that you can get licensed in and that the sports medicine part would be a specialty to attach to it. So I took the list as started to look through it at each job that plays an affect in the sport medicine area. I narrowed in on Physical Therapy and then took the time to do some shadowing in it for my senior study.
I feel such a reward helping those in need, and I want to help people both physically and emotionally. Physical therapy is my ideal career because it fuels my passion for physical activity, but will allow me to have strong interpersonal relationships with my patients. I plan to graduate in the Fall of 2017. I have already planned my class schedule for the upcoming semesters to ensure I will graduate in a timely
Each job has provided me with a new perspective in on the field of healthcare. Overall, I have witnessed over 24 surgeries and have seen what it is like behind the scenes to work in a hospital. In addition, my interest motivated me to seek a unique opportunity outside of the Tri-Health program. Anatomy and AP Biology students at my high school were invited to apply to participate in a leg cadaver lab at a local orthopedic surgery center.
What drew me to this career path was the versability physician assistants have in the medical field since they can switch specialties. For me, this meant I am not just restricted to one specialty, but I can acquire knowledge and practice
The reason I chose a degree in occupational therapy is because I believe helping others is the most rewarding task a person can perform. Occupational therapy changes people’s lives by making them more independent, successful in day-to-day activities, and improves a patient’s standard of living. The factors that occupational therapists focus on enhance patient’s health outcomes. I would find great self-fulfillment if I was able to do the miracle work that occupational therapists do on a day-to-day basis. This degree relates to my immediate goal to better my knowledge on how to care for patients effectively and properly, as well as receive more experience through field work where I will be able to learn from others who are experienced in this
My transition into the field of Health Information Management was not intended, but rather a result of life throwing a curveball. Since graduating from Pace University in 2015 with a Bachelor's in Finance, my passion has been to merge business finance and healthcare into one career goal. This is healthcare revenue cycle management. The education that I received provided me with a foundation and framework upon which I am now building on a daily basis. My life experiences led me to work as a financial analyst, where I handled complex spreadsheets and performed analytics.
Although a stressful two years, I finished on time with my Bachelor’s degree in hand. I feel this shift in my educational path taught me the skills and qualities it takes to be a great occupational therapist: patience, determination, and finding one’s strengths to achieve
I spent countless hours studying, shadowing physicians, and volunteering in various healthcare settings. However, as I gained more experience in the field, I began to realize that my interests and strengths were better suited for a career as a physician assistant. While I have great respect for the field of medicine and the specialized knowledge and skills that physicians possess, I found that the more holistic and collaborative approach of the physician assistant profession resonated with me. I worked closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, assisting with patient care and education. I found that I enjoyed the patient-centered approach of the healthcare team and appreciated the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with patients.
I have chosen to get my Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration at Kaplan University, because of the high demand in the healthcare profession. As a Healthcare Administrator, I am required to have strong communication skills and leadership ability. Being an administrator I must be able to make decisions and delegate authority, while managing all levels of medical and administrative personnel. Our job is to manage, direct and coordinate medical services in a variety of settings. It is our responsibility to know the skills and knowledge of medical services, as well as the laws that govern the industry.
I have chosen public health as my major because it is a dynamic field. I have a passion for making a difference in people’s lives and helping others achieve their goals. It is with great passion that I am dedicated and willing to contribute my service or skills to help someone in need. My philosophy of health education is very simple, to prevent, improve and educate the lives of individuals, families, communities, populations, and societies. Besides, there is no safer way to touch people’s lives than through public health.
Another thing about leadership is its an art. People can’t just become a leader, it’s inside of them just waiting for an opportunity to reveal itself. “Educators, health professionals, and parents all agree that as society grows more complex, young people are in greater need than ever for grounding in the basic values that determine character”(Hirschmann 12). This shows that the higher ups in
I thought I knew what career path I wanted for my future, with that in mind, I sought a degree in Fitness and Human Performance to continue with a career in Occupational Therapy. In this career choice, the way I got to help patients was through therapy. While taking classes, I realized Occupational Therapy is not what I truly was passionate about. I decided to take my mother’s advice and choose what I truly love to do, which is to help people all around and I believe the nursing program would be the best fit. I am currently completing my certified nurse program to proceed with a job as a patient care technician.
