Thus, he based his decisions (through the help of adviser Apolinario Mabini) on what will be good for the country on a long-term and futuristic basis. This was showcased through the varied cabinet meetings that he held in the event that the United States forces was seeking entry to the country. Aguinaldo clearly valued what future benefits and contributions that the US can give the country, as he favored the statements of the business-oriented members of the cabinet. This favor was shown as he sought to free the imprisoned Felipe Buencamino (Noni Buencamino) and Pedro Paterno (Leo Martinez), both of whom strongly believed that the country will progress with the help of the US. In these meetings, he led with inquiry as he listened to two opposing sides on how to deal with US entry and presence in the country. The character’s portrayal also showed how the First President acted on the views presented by the members of the cabinet without provoking outrage or contempt. Aguinaldo also pursued balance of powers

Emilio Aguinaldo is the name of this leader who was ruthless and when the United States didn’t grant or recognize this he declared war on the beloved country the United States. This sparked up many fiery discussions among senators. One such discussion was between George Hoar and Beveridge and “every word of which… [would] cost and… [would cost] the lives of American soldiers” (Doc. D). This discussion was arguing between whether or the Philippines was a United States territory and if it was in the construction or not. This territory was extremely important for the united states because it allowed the United States passage to all of the East.
Throughout Ken Kesey’s, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, the balance of power is challenged in the psychiatric ward. Out of the several leaders that appear in the novel, Nurse Ratched and McMurphy are the most prominent. During Nurse Ratched and McMurphy struggle for power, they share many of the same qualities. It is argued that: “McMurphy and Ratched are alike in intelligence, military service, distinctive (if opposite) clothing, and conventionally masculine qualities” (Evans). These small similarities; however, do not distract the characters from fighting for their individual beliefs.
Their optimism and devotion as well as their dexterity to make strategic and sometimes risky plans are characteristics they share, while their devotion and loyalties as well as their personal ideologies contrast. In the midst of detrimental military conflict the attributes of an inspirational leader are reflected in his men, thus ensuring a tenacious and competent
Hoganson’s approach of the annexation purely for cultural reasons rather Painter’s, which is more agricultural. She saw America taking over The Philippines as a way for The Philippines to mature. Even though both authors have two different perspectives on the annexation, they both still are complementary to each other. Potent Leadership of Captain Jack Aubrey Beginning in the early 19th Century, the Napoleonic Wars revealed the ambition of the French Empire and desire for European domination, which was led by legendary military leader Napoleon I. As the French Empire invaded and conquered several countries, the opposing European coalitions scrambled to withstand and eventually defeat this rising power. While many would assume the strength of this empire too great to be resisted, one key factor gave the Coalition (primarily Britain) a ticket to victory: control of the seas. The mastery, size, and experience of this British Navy led to the defeat of the French.2 Perhaps most important in this fight was leadership and their use of unconventional tactics, which
Thayer truly regretted ever making the movies because the final film showed an edited version of the widows killing, making Villa look like a saint and not a villain. After the films were released Villa was looked at by American politicians as a passionate and influential leader because he considered a main player in the political and military outcomes of the revolution. Pancho Villa was well known by American politicians as the leader of the northern states and by being the Governor of Chihuahua. When Pancho Villa executed sixteen U.S. citizens and ordered his forces to raid the U.S. town of Columbus, New Mexico, killing seventeen Americans and burning the town to the ground, Mexican leader Emiliano Zapata was quoted as saying “Villa has given himself into Carranza’s hands and has provided the Federal Government with a legitimate excuse to destroy him”, this is exactly what Carranza wanted and President Woodrow Wilson order U.S. Army troops into Mexico to capture or kill Pancho Villa (Syme, p.73-74). Still unclear whether Villa actually participated in the raid, this action changed the course of politics between Mexico and America during this very difficult time.
“There were thousands of Kantoreks, all of whom were convinced that they were acting for the best--- in a way that cost them nothing. And that is why they let us down so badly” (Remarque 12). Leadership plays an important role in every war, especially those of major importance. All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque has many examples of leadership on display. Three types of leadership displayed in the novel are Kantorek’s hypocritical leadership, Himmelstoss’s authoritarian leadership, and Kat’s pack leader qualities.
Bravery, cleverness, and determination are three traits a good leader has. In Homer’s epic “The Odyssey,” Odysseus, the hero in the story, is trying to return home to Ithaca after his victory in Troy. On their way back home, Odysseus and his men hurt the cyclops, Polyphemus, and angered his father, Poseidon. With a god angry at them, Odysseus and his men had to overcome many obstacles. These obstacles led them to strange islands that had goddesses and dangerous creatures.
Leadership and roles are depicted throughout the whole movie by many different jurors. The designated leader of the jury group was Juror #1. Juror #1 was when they first entered into the room but Juror #8 took the emergent role when he declined to agree with a guilty verdict. His rejection to agree in a guilty verdict was crucial since he voiced his uncertainty to the evidence at a early stage.
General Patton’s ethical and visionary leadership styles showed when he utilized his open-mindedness and team dynamic role of “creator” to incorporate an aerial assault into his operational strategies and avoided the ethical trap of uncertainty when he combined the two tactics without any pre-established policy. General Patton also displayed visionary leadership by his use of inspirational motivation, constant presence on the battle field,
Movies are proposed to entertain us and lead us to a different time or place. But if you look at a movie deeper you see the themes and ideas put into the movie. Directors strive to show, the theme of the idea not just in the characters, but in the setting and camera work. Throughout the play knight riders, the director and producers use characters and images to project to the audience, what they hope that they see. Using this movie to project themes of leadership, even if they were not trying to this start even in the first scene.
Leadership Thought Prior to 1900 The earliest study of leadership thought would be the “Great Man Theory. This theory conceptualized leaders as a single “Great Man” who knew everything and influenced others to follow him. In leadership discourse, the Great Man theory—an assertion that certain individuals, certain men, are gifts from God placed on earth to provide the lightening needed to uplift human existence—is associated mainly with Thomas Carlyle (Spector, 2015, p.250). The focal-point of this theory is that leaders’ skills are inherent and set that them apart from those around them and that these traits enable them to assume roles of power and authority.
