Leadership Portrayals in the movie Heneral Luna
In 2015, the movie depicting Philippine military commander General Antonio Luna generated considerable attention from both critics and fanatics. The movie Heneral Luna, which was directed by Jerrold Tarog, portrayed a historical drama about a military commander's fight for independence. The struggle for independence became one because of the key leaders and characters that had major roles in attaining liberty for the Philippines.
This essay identifies the characters of General Emilio Aguinaldo (the first president of the Republic of the Philippines in the movie), General Tomas Mascardo and General Antonio Luna as those who epitomizes the three levels of leadership: strategic, operational and tactical.

Thus, he based his decisions (through the help of adviser Apolinario Mabini) on what will be good for the country on a long-term and futuristic basis. This was showcased through the varied cabinet meetings that he held in the event that the United States forces was seeking entry to the country. Aguinaldo clearly valued what future benefits and contributions that the US can give the country, as he favored the statements of the business-oriented members of the cabinet. This favor was shown as he sought to free the imprisoned Felipe Buencamino (Noni Buencamino) and Pedro Paterno (Leo Martinez), both of whom strongly believed that the country will progress with the help of the US. In these meetings, he led with inquiry as he listened to two opposing sides on how to deal with US entry and presence in the country. The character’s portrayal also showed how the First President acted on the views presented by the members of the cabinet without provoking outrage or contempt.
