Leadership is the action of leading a group or organization. To be an effective leader one must be honest, trustworthy, and contain a large amount of integrity. The traits and qualities of an effective leader were taught to me during my time in JROTC. JROTC stresses its core values of honor, courage, and commitment to all of its members. George Washington’s leadership was indispensable in successfully launching a new government. George Washington was chosen to be the leader at the Constitutional Convention or the Philadelphia Convention in 1787, because he had gained a great amount of trust and respect after the Revolutionary War from supporters of a national government. In addition, Washington’s support for the constitution was critical, since citizens had an admiration for him. If he did not support the constitution, neither would the citizens. Washington also contributed his comments to the Convention and wrote letters to his political associates. The presidential cabinet was developed by George Washington to set the pattern for future presidents.
George Washington had tremendous leadership abilities. I think George Washington had tremendous abilities because, he was confident that his army of soldiers could defeat the Hessians in the Revolutionary war. Even though they were young kids and the Hessians were believed to be genuinely good when it comes to battle. Many people including General Gates were doubting his army. Another reason why I think George Washington had tremendous abilities in leadership is because, he is a proud man. He stood up to general Gates when he said he couldn’t have the men win. Also he has tremendous abilities because he stood up for what he believed in. When the Hessian Colonel Rall got shot he did not want to visit him because he believed that he should not

Leadership can also be relational which means it takes teamwork, requires you to be able to work with others in various backgrounds and that may have difference perspectives. Leadership also requires continuous learning, discerned decision making, and savvy communication skills.
