After watching the videos I realized how horrible of a learner I was. I also realized; that if I was to have any chance of getting the desired education, and occupational attainment, some adjustments needed to be made. I used to study, and do homework while being on Facebook or listening to music. However instead of helping me focus, and concentrate like I thought it, would it only distracted me, and prevented me from getting my homework completed on time. Chew points out in (Chew, S. Another thing I had problems with was time management, I would procrastinate a lot or complain about how I do not have time to study, or get my work done. This semester, after attending a time management class I realized I had 40 hours a week of free time, and I used that time poorly, having fun or being lazy.They then told me how I should be managing my time and trying to get all of my work done before playing, and since I was poor at managing time it showed in my work and performance that I done things the 11th hour. My study habits, were very poor. I used to believe that I did not need to go to class or stay the whole class period, I also barely read the textbook at all, and since I had poor time management skills I procrastinated and waited until the very last minute to study. This resulted in poor grades, and more stress and agony. If you want the A or desired grade you have to work hard for it, and have the right mindset. So I have now decided on Sundays to plan, and manage my entire week, and set study and homework times, and stick through with …show more content…

There are many things I can do to manage my stress better is to make better and smarter choices. I started off at a community college, and most of the stress I experienced was what my old psychology professor called environmental stress. College exposes you to all different kinds of people, ideas, and interests. If you choose to hang with crowds, that has low academic, and high social values you may be popular, but you will not succeed in the classroom, and if you do not produce good academic and social fruit then you will not last long in college. When I was reading the UIC pamphlet basically these values stuck out to me, stay organized, manage and plan your time accordingly. The emphasis of this is to stick to it, and follow through in order to achieve your desired educational attainment. Some ways I can achieve this is taking some time management classes, and pick up hobbies that can help me cope with the daily grind of being a student. This can include meditation, joining a club, or team, and reconnecting with a good old video game system. It is also very important to take control of your environment. Avoid people who bring negative stress to you. Seek people who are goal oriented, have a good moral foundation and shares similar values and interests with you. In order to avoid harmful
