Henry Ford once said, “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress. Working together is success” (Brainy Quote). From here, the concept of inclusive education, including students with and without learning disabilities as peers in the same classroom, originated. The aim of this type of education is to get students with learning disabilities involved in the society. Teachers and fellow students will also provide help for students with disabilities; in this way, students with learning disabilities will be motivated to study as they feel that they are a part of a group instead of being isolated in special places.
Reverse integration is a program that includes typically developing learners in a self-contained special education class (Perles,2012). It is a program also known as reverse inclusion was designed to foster positive support and interaction among typically-abled and disabled learners. Typically, this practice are being used to pre-school and kindergarten age in order to develop positive social culture among learners. Furthermore, the reverse integration is a program of interaction targeting academic and social goals for each learner (Baker,2015). The social and academic benefits of inclusion of students with disabilities in regular classes have been well documented (Drasgow&Stoxen,2003).
It has a big part in education by making it easier for the students and teachers. The AAP(American Academy of Pediatrics) states that recess is a crucial part of education. Recess is a step towards a better education. Everyone knows that being fit is great for physical health, but did you know it also contributes to your cognitive state? Several studies have shown that fitter children do better in school compared to their not as fit peers.
It gives a better understanding not just in English ll but in your other classes as well. Every student should take time to understand what the syllabus is all about and how it could change your behavior and or study skills. Therefore I believe that the syllabus and it 's great way of showing what it 's worth can improve on many students on following
Peers give you someone to talk to if you’re having a bad day. People are always dependant on other people to cheer them up, have someone to talk to and more. Some of your peers may also motivate you to get better grades. From experience, having someone in competition to get the better grade made me study more and strive for greatness. The social aspect of public school is not just your peers, but teachers as well.
Multicultural education enables the individual to believe in one’s own intrinsic worth and culture, to transcend monoculturalism and, ultimately, to become multicultural (“National Association”). How do we begin to learn the cultures of other people and be able to teach our students about them? We need to observe the children in classrooms and carefully listen to their life experiences. By teaching the students to embrace all cultures and learn about them, it will create a unity in the classroom. Students then will feel safe and comfortable in the classroom (Gollnick & Chinn, 2012).
Next, families that homeschool their children have a stronger bond with each other, creating a safe and caring learning environment for students. Lastly, research has shown that homeschooled students are above average in terms of social, psychological, and emotional levels. Those who are homeschooled also tend to score higher on standardized academic achievement tests compared to public school students. Public schooling may be beneficial for some students, but until the system is further improved for convenience and profit to all, homeschooling is a more effective method of education. To start off, homeschooling is a more effective method of education because it allows students to learn and develop at their own pace.
Honor codes can help students become more responsible adults. While they can be great, honor codes can also create animosity by students trying to get ahead of others. Honor codes are a great way to help students grow and mature into successful
Not only does it help for the development of children but it helps children/students be more communicative. Being in the arts not only can help children but also students become more drive. Although, people (parents, and people in the communities) think that the school should focus more on classes that would get you ready for standardized test like reading, math, and science. The arts helps students to be more developed and advanced in schools. Tests have shown an increase of math and test scores with students in the arts.
2. The strength of these philosophies lies in the fact they are all student centered approaches to teaching and learning. I most appreciate the prescriptive nature of the philosophies meaning that they all are attempting to increase learning and decrease behavior issues by establishing roles, routines, and norms of a classroom. I think if I can actively utilize the approaches above, I can create the type of environment that is helpful to both students and still be a place I want to work in. I do not expect that I can do it all the first year, but maybe over time I can bring in more research based applications of classroom management.
