Conservation Criteria
(a) Target
To increase the number of leatherback turtles from xx to xx on xx time
(b) Action plans (Protection and management procedures) 1. Increase Nesting Sites.
Existing studies showed that the number of nesting of leatherback turtles, especially at Rantau Abang, has declined drastically to less than 10 nests per year (Strategic Planning for long term Financing of Pacific Leatherback Conservation & Recovery, 2008). Hence, the introduction of more protected nesting sites for leatherback turtles ensure that they have better chances to find place to lay eggs. This is because, unlike any other species of sea turtles, leatherback females tend to change their nesting sites although it stays at the same region.
2. Hatcheries.
Effective hatcheries will be set up in order to increase the rate of hatching process and to minimize the threats to eggs and hatchlings. Besides that, hatcheries will also aim to produce a suitable sex ratio of hatchlings, as well as to release healthy and fit hatchlings into the sea. As of today, Malaysia has been practicing two

For instance, the presence of community volunteers through commune meetings to address the importance of protecting leatherback turtles as well as their eggs to ensure species survival. Other than that, advertisements through produced and distributed materials will help public to recognize the current state and status of our leatherback turtle, and that management procedure should be taken immediately to sustain the current population from diminishing. Apart from that, information exchange regarding threats faced by leatherback turtle, particularly their eggs, will help to open public mind of the consequences this species will face if their eggs and meat are continually harvested and sold
My hypothesis for this experiment was not what I expected it to be. Instead of having each section grow in size due to the solution was incorrect. I only had my 1% with solution grow. This is the lowest concentration level I had and my lowest number of brine shrimp in the section without concentration as well. The other sections with my 5% and my 10% concentration ended up with no hatched eggs at all.
Is this conservation? According to the video, nowadays Texas has a higher exotic wildlife than any other place on Earth. Charly Seale is the executive director of the Exotic Wildlife Association in Texas. He is known for having more than 120 different species from Asia, Africa, and Europe in his ranch.
What do the Chelonia mydas call home? The Chelonia mydas don 't just call one place home they live all over. They prefer the tropical and warmer oceans and sandy shores. Green sea turtles live in almost all the oceans in the world excluding the oceans that are located in the colder regions (ex Arctic Ocean).
These turtles are often found in large groups basking in the sun on a partially submerged log or rock. Basking is needed for survival for these turtles because they are cold-blooded and basking allows them to regulate body temperature. Also while basking the sun helps get rid of parasitic leeches. During the night these turtle rest at the bottom of a pond usually because they are diurnal meaning: active during day. Painted turtle’s also
Here in citrus county, we have hundreds of West Indian manatees that come into our waters each winter to stay warm in our spring water. The economy of this county, especially in crystal river, relies on tourism of manatees. People come from all over to see these mammals. The problem is that it is harmful and stressful to the manatees if the tourists don’t follow the guidelines of manatee manners. There are a few ways to fix this.
With that being said only one nest in ten actually produce a single healthy duckling. Predators can not
Sea turtles will be less likely to nest on beaches that have high human recreation or that have been altered by humans. Beaches that are near human development pose a threat to sea turtles, not just by human presence, but because artificial lights prevent hatchlings from being able to orient themselves toward the ocean (Lindsay 2003). Additionally, the possibility of adaptation poses some uncertainties. Loggerhead
Loggerhead sea turtles face many dangers including artificial lights, which contribute to their endangerment. The most prevalent way loggerhead sea turtles are being threatened is by human interaction. Humans turn on lights by the beach at night sometimes in turtle nesting season, and this can influence female turtles to avoid the beach, where they need to lay their eggs. (“Please turn your lights off, the turtles are nesting: ensuring that federal, state, and local laws help guide endangered marine turtle hatchlings in Florida to the right source of light”). However, there are some actions humans can take to help prevent endangerment of sea turtle hatchlings.
MacKinnon’s purpose to have people open their eyes and not be closed minded towards nature. The author's intention is to have environmental experts and college educated people interested in the wildlife read his article on the different perspectives
Consequently, many shore birds such as the endangered species, the red knot, depend on the horseshoe crab eggs to survive the migration. Another prime example of this is in article 4: “These eggs are the single most important food source for migrating shorebirds.” This means that if the horseshoe crabs have less space for breeding and their eggs, then there will be shorebirds, such as red knots who don’t get to make to their final
The study examined five different sites, three in which were contaminated and downstream from Hudson Falls, New York (McCarty and Secord, 1999). The final two sites were at Ithaca and Champlain, Champlain being located 5km upstream from Hudson Falls (McCarty and Secord, 1999). At each one of these sites, 25 to 35 nest boxes were placed along the river’s edge, each box placed in areas with plenty of suitable nesting material (McCarty and Secord, 1999). To measure the overall nest quality two measure were used, the mass and the number of feathers around the cup of the nest (McCarty and Secord, 1999). The mass would be weighed on the day the egg was laid and on the day the egg hatched (McCarty and Secord, 1999).
In an effort to ensure effective comprehension and validity, it is important to rely on credible sources and avoid making unsubstantiated claims. Finally, all messages should include a clear call to action, encouraging the audience to take specific steps to support conservation efforts. Providing practical suggestions for ways that individuals can get involved, such as volunteering or making a donation, can help to increase engagement and mobilize action. By using this writing knowledge and skills, members of the wildlife protection community can help to inspire others to take action and
Biologist Elizabeth Flores Breton 's Interview Elizabeth Flores Breton, a founding biologist of EcoPlan 's sea turtle protection program in Cabo San Lucas, believes strongly in conservation and protecting our natural resources in rational ways. Breton was born in Mexico City but discovered Cabo San Lucas about two years prior to our filming and commented, "In this area, taking care of nature is critical because we have the presence of many horseback riding tours and people who come in on their vehicles; sea turtle predation in this area has been going on for years, and it is important to start a conservation program for these animals." Biologist Lara Cibeles, Leader of Planet Ecology and Conservation Camp Biologist Lara Cibeles, who
In 2003, a young thirteen year old named Bethany Hamilton was attacked by a shark at Tunnels Beach in Kauai, Hawaii. In 2010, my family and I ended up actually going to the beach that Bethany was attacked. We drove down from the hotel we were staying at through all the beautiful scenery that was so different from that of Idaho. The car we rented was a red Jeep and we had the top off all the way to the beach. It was perfect, the sunshine above, the warm salty air licking our faces as we sped through the streets lined by looming palms swaying in the breeze.
Wildlife Conservation is often seen as a bad thing, but if you look at it from my perspective, then it is actually a good thing. People think of it as holding wild animals captive, but we are actually protecting them from poachers. The purpose of Wildlife Conservation is to protect the animals in danger, which I am in agreement 110%. Other people argue that we shouldn’t have conservations, but they don’t know the harm that can happen to unprotected animals.
