This article discusses the LensCrafters company and the intervention they received to improve their management development. From the beginning, the company did well in the optics market. During an economic downturn however, retail sales began to decline and the company began its downward spiral. To combat this downward shift, LensCrafters turned to the Blanchard Company. Blanchard incorporated their Situational Leadership II (SLII) model into the LensCrafters company. This model revolved around four core leadership styles: directing, coaching, supporting, and delegating.
