“All life is energy and energy cannot be destroyed but just transferred” was stated by Leo Simons. According to the Bible, John 11.25, “Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life, whoever believes in me, though he die, yet he shall live”. Brian Keene said,” when you died, you were supposed to live on in the memories of others”. By quoting these people, one -can shed light on the different approaches to the belief – “life after death”. It is argued by scientists and rationalists that “life after death” has no logical rational. There is no truth in the statement. Philosophers and religious behaviours, on the other hand vehemently argue for the claim.
Leo Simmons’ statement of life as energy, embodies life as an aspect that comes full circle. On his death, man is buried in the ground. This results in decomposition which increases the fertility and biological content of the soil. This fertiliser helps the growth of plants which are eaten by animals that are eaten by humans and the cycle continues. This is the food chain, it balances and conserves energy. Leo Simmons argues “life after death”, by taking the non religious approach towards the topic.
The Bible on the other hand, makes a completely religious

Through his statement, people believe that after one’s death, they still continue to live on in the memories and actions of their loved ones, in the genes that are passed on through the family and in the stories that revolved around their “life before death” self. Mahatma Gandhi lives on in the freedom of India, the history text books that focus on his achievements, and in the memories of all Indians. One can never forget a person’s achievements and their impact on someone’s life. As a result, although one dies, he never ceases to exist. Through this aspect of the argument, an emotional approach is taken towards the topic of “life after
Francis Nosike 09/24/16 AP Literature Mr. Amoroso Death cannot be explained because it’s not a living entity; it’s the transformation from a physical state to dust. In the novel Bless Me Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya; Antonio, the protagonist, witnessed three deaths that fostered his religious ambivalence. Therefore, the three deaths formulated a cycle of inquiries that lead to the constant statement, ‘anyone could die.’ No living soul on this plain could ever explain how death operates. The abstract conception of death itself is challenging, but with time, we slowly begin to comprehend the ‘true’ nature of death and what it brings to us.
It roots to our idea of the philosophy of life, in terms of reflection on our existence as humans and not only the contingence but the limitations thereof. Death encompasses the individual’s fundamental existence on the one hand and reshapes our concepts of its nature complementing one another in order to enlighten the idea of it. The manifestation of an individual to herself/himself is made probable by nothingness. The notion of spirituality and death in existentialism.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, an American transcendentalist thinker once said “The purpose of life is... to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” Ernest J. Gaines, author of historical novel A Lesson Before Dying, focuses largely on the idea of the importance an individual can have in someone else's life, and how it can ultimately lead to a life that is truly worth living. Grant Wiggins, the educated, yet stubborn protagonist in A Lesson Before Dying, is forced by his aunt to return to his small town Louisiana community in which he has grown to hate because of the racial inequality and unequal learning opportunities. Grants aunt, Tante Lou, coerces him to work with her friend's
Brittany Maynard chose to the “Death with Dignity” option after learning that she only had six months to live after her brain cancer became more aggressive and turned to a grade 4 glioblastoma. She moved from California to Oregon in order to legally receive a prescription of a lethal dose of barbiturates. Oregonis one of five states in the U.S that has the passed the Death with Dignity Act. Brittany chose this option because she did not want to go through radiation or live the last of her days in pain while her family watched. Brittany stated, “Because the rest of my body is young and healthy, I m likely to physically hang on for a long time even though cancer is eating my mind, and my family would have to watch that,” (page 565).
Life and Death in Assisted Living Facilities Assisted living facilities are one of the fastest growing industries in the United States. Unfortunately, assisted living facilities have a history of being problematic. Specific cases from the movie Life and Death in Assisted Living Facilities indicates that assisted living facilities are often under staffed, poorly trained, and often admit elderly patients who are not qualified candidates for their facilities (Byker and Thompson, 2013). When taking this in to account, it is important to consider why families may admit their loved ones in to assisted living facilities.
In “A Dialogue on Personal Identity and Immortality”, Gretchen Weirob and Sam Miller conduct a philosophical debate about the possibility of a continued existence after death. Weirob argues that she herself cannot exist after death because her identity is composed of her body, rationality, and consciousness. In Derek Parfit’s “Personal Identity” he ponders how the concept of identity works, and how the true nature of our identity affects some of the most important questions we have about our existence. I believe that Velleman did a better job of exploring the idea of identity than Weirob did.
In response to the long-standing philosophical question of immorality, many philosophers have posited the soul criterion, which asserts the soul constitutes personal identity and survives physical death. In The Myth of the Soul, Clarence Darrow rejects the existence of the soul in his case against the notion of immortality and an afterlife. His primary argument against the soul criterion is that no good explanation exists for how a soul enters a body, or when its beginning might occur. (Darrow 43) After first explicating Darrow 's view, I will present what I believe is its greatest shortcoming, an inconsistent use of the term soul, and argue that this weakness impacts the overall strength of his argument.

If there is a quantum code for all things, living and dead, then there is an existence after death (speaking in purely physical terms). Dr. Hans-Peter Dürr, former head of the Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich, posits that, just as a particle "writes" all of its information on its wave function, the brain is the tangible "floppy disk" on which we save our data, and this data is then "uploaded" into the spiritual quantum field. Continuing with this analogy, when we die the body, or the physical disk, is gone, but our consciousness, or the data on the computer, lives on.
When we are dead, we will not exist or experience anything. Death is the destination of our life journey on this planet. When we are dead, we are no longer physically present on this planet. To us, everything is over. According to Epicurus, “So death, the most terrifying of evils, is nothing to us, because as long as we exist death is not present, whereas when death is present we do not exist.
Throughout the years and even today people have different views or ideas about the afterlife. Some people based those ideas on their religion or just in a widely accepted idea within their civilization. But what all of these civilizations had in common was that their view in the afterlife was a necessary feature that would determine their way of living. The Israelites, Greeks, Indians all had different beliefs in the afterlife, yet all of them were ruled by their beliefs to tell them how to live life. The Israelites were a group of people from the Middle East that believed in the idea of there being just one God.

Past life theory - Ryan The text, He Came from Hollywood, surely has loads of arguments indicating proof for past life or reincarnation. Ryan, a five-year-old boy, have since he had the ability to express himself verbally, pleaded his mother to return him to his home in Hollywood and revisit his family. He also reacted to photo from Hollywood, where he claimed to have known the persons, and even identifying one of them as himself. In addition, Ryan described a scene in the movie Night After Night, that the mother later could verify.
