The Renaissance was known as the rebirth of Europe through the fourteen century and the
sixteenth century. The Renaissance was known for its many artist, eduction, art works and music. It
also brought growth of population and a bigger need in well-educated men. Also let people express
the changes of the Era. Humanities is mainly the study of liberal arts but it also is the study of
grammar, classical literature, history and science. Humanities put human value over Gods authority

Leonardo da Vinci was educated in many subjects, he was skilled in painting, music,
sculpting and architure. Da Vinci studied mathematics, geology, anatomy, botany, astronomy also
engineering. While he was painting the last last supper while he was sponsored by the Duke of
Milan. Michelangelo painted on the ceiling of the sistine chapel under the order of Pope Julius the
second and the last judgment on the chapels front wall. Also Michelangelo was ranked as one of
the greatest artist of his time.
Albrecht Diirer was skilled in writing, painting, designing and engraving. He went to Italy to study
art and his style of paintings were classical and natural but he was most notable for his engravings
and wood works. Josquin des Prezs marked the change in music from medieval times to modern
times and He sung church and secular music. Hans Holbein was the designer and portrait painter of
Henry VIII, the King of England and his family, He traveled all around Europe during this time.

William Shakespeare was one of the greatest literature writers and poets in
England and helped the Renaissance reach its peak, Shakespeare wrote many plays, poems and
sonnets. William Shakespeare wrote many classics like Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and
King Lear. Giotto di Bondone was renowned as the Father of the Renaissance and took lifeless
painted people and put them on a gold background.
Masaccio was the first painter to every use the technique of shading to create more human like
figures and gave his paintings a 3D effect. Sandro Botticelli gave his painting more dimension and
realism, the people in his paintings seem to be realistic. The artist of the Renaissance Era took the
insight of the artist in the classical world. The new art style put more attention on that current time
in history. Most artist of this Era had secular patrons but in the age before only churches would be
the artists patron. The Renaissance artists goals were to gain success from their art and be well
known around Europe. The difference in art style from Medieval to Renaissance Era is a big leap
from ordinary to extraordinary art works.

One way paintings demonstrate this is the difference between the Mona Lisa and Madonna Enthroned Between Two Angels. The older painting, Madonna Enthroned Between Two Angles, is unrealistic and has rather depressing dark colors. While the Renaissance painting, the Mona Lisa, is not only much more realistic, but also a lot more cheerful, brighter feel, and became a true masterpiece (Doc A). In the paintings, the fact the Renaissance painting is brighter, more realistic and a famous masterpiece, shows that the Renaissance changed the art style into a unique, amazing representation that changed the entire future of art. Study of the classicals, mostly the Greco-Romans, were increasingly popular among the people of Europe; humanism was then starting to take shape. In the Renaissance the values and purposes of education was emphasized by humanists, who wants to use it to improve society, economic increased, and above all, to be able to restore religious beliefs.
Artists started to take pride in their artwork and began exploring new humanist themes in their art rather than focusing on the traditional biblical subject matter that was popular during the middle ages. Italian scholars and artists saw themselves as reawakening to the ideals and achievements of classical Roman culture. Renaissance art gave philosophers a different perspective on reality and this affected their writings from then on. Artists used the idea of symmetry and linear perspective which also led to people developing interests in math and science. Scientists and Mathematicians became inspired by the work of art being created just like how artists became inspired by philosophies and new theories coming into the time period.
Art is not nearly as well rounded nowadays as it was in the renaissance. For example the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da vinci was an exceptional painting that had tons of detail such as the the ripples in her sleeves and the curls in her hair( doc. a). This painting shows that this was a happy point in time because she is smiling in the portrait(doc. a).
In the time of the Middle Ages, they focused on the religious value of art, “The [clearest] evidence of the break with medieval culture comes from the visual arts.” (DocA) a popular painting of this time by Duccio Di Bouninsegna’s shows The Mother Mary with the baby Jesus on her lap. This painting was two-dimensional and had very little creativity, the painting mostly didn’t make people feel anything only had religious value. While during the Renaissance they focused on making you feel stronger feelings “[It] was the essence of the Renaissance .... One begins to know the names of the artists ... feel stronger emotions in the subjects ... ... see well-defined landscapes, natural folds in drapery, and three-dimensional figures” (Doc A).

Before the Renaissance, artists focused primarily on religious scenes and Gothic art. During the Renaissance, artists began to focus more on realism and human qualities. Renaissance artists also began to lean towards Roman and Greek styles/ideas for inspiration.
People have told stories with marble, as well as ink. The focus of the Renaissance was the arts. Artists had evolved their skillsets since the Middle Ages, for example, their paintings weren’t 2D and they focused on people rather than just gods. The detail of sculptures and paintings became more realistic than it had been during the Middle Ages. In Michelangelo's sculpture David completed in 1504, he sculpted an image of David from David and Goliath holding a slingshot, before he kills the beast with a stone.

During this historical period humans stared evolving by becoming smarter and inventing useful recourses that have changed the world. People think mainly about the Italian Renaissance since the artists of that time became more popular. Such artists are Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Donatello, and many more. However, the Northern Renaissance also embodied many great artists such as Pieter Bruegel The Elder, Jan Van Eyck, and Hieronymus Bosch.
