Good Evening Mr. Hallstrom, I hope you had a productive day. I have never had to write a graded email to a teacher; there is a first time for everything in a junior honors class. I am writing this email to discuss my academic life at Beckman High School. I feel that my time at Beckman High School has been very productive. I have become more responsible and competent since my freshman and sophomore year. My first day of sophomore year, Ms. Thomas gave us a writing assignment. We had to write her a letter about our favorite book; I was so excited to write this letter. However, when I got my grade on my letter, I realized that I had used all lower case letters throughout my paper. After that embarrassing moment, I double check my capitalization always. In addition, I took my first advanced placement course during sophomore year: world history. World history had a notorious reputation on campus; everyone was afraid of the massive amounts of coursework. I decided to take world history, and I am so thankful that I did. I loved that class. I spent every weekend doing world history homework to prepare for the coming week. I unlocked a hard-working spirit inside of myself that encouraged me to achieve. …show more content…
I have been struggling in math, and it has taken a lot of hard work to stay afloat. English has always come naturally to me - until this year. I have never taken an English class quite like your class, Mr. Hallstrom. The class challenges me to think differently and be more analytical. I was very nervous because I thought I might not succeed. To my delight, I do not feel nervous anymore. The first few months of school taught me that I could handle funky activities through my preparation and knowledge. Comparatively, I would like to achieve in my other classes. I am going to remain working hard in math so I can earn an “A” next
Just this year I changed from an accelerated history class to a more challenging AP history class,
I thought to myself, “Was it all worth it?” and quickly dismissing this idea. I came to realize that I didn’t need something solid reference to this achievement, that the knowledge that I could accomplish anything with determination and a little creativity was
The most thought-provoking book I read this summer was The Hot Zone by Richard Preston. Not only is this book fast paced keeping you with the urge to read but it also focuses on real events leaving the reader to wonder why it is said that history repeats itself. I chose this book to focus on because of the close connection the story seemed to hold to recent events in history. The Ebola outbreak was the center of the media’s attention recently because of all the harm it caused in Africa and the fact that a virus could be so destructive, managing a large scale outbreak, is a massive threat to life as we know it. My reason for taking AP World History was really quite simple.
Jani Hale has been Phoenix High School’s Principal for many years. She became the Principal or “Captain” of Phoenix High School after getting a call from, Superintendent, Ben Bergreen. He asked her, "Would you like to be principal of Phoenix High School?" Excited she responded, "YES!" As she hung up the phone, she realized that she was standing in Ocracoke Island in North Carolina, home of Blackbeard the Pirate.

I was a fourth grader when my dad told me that we were moving to the Unites States, “land of wealth, excitement, and fabulous cities.” But there clearly was a mistake; I was brought to the middle of nowhere in the arid region of the Hopi Native American Reservation in Arizona. Our family’s migration to the United States was not a well-planned search for lucrative opportunity, international education, freedom, or happiness. Rather, it was a call to mission. Yet I struggled to accept it, because I thought that I was only forced to follow my parents.
The film Dear Zachary, directed by Kurt Kuenne, makes an argument in response to a very specific situation: the murder of Kuenne’s best friend Andrew Bagby and Bagby’s son Zachary, both killed by Andrew’s ex-girlfriend Shirley Turner. Kuenne argues that bail should be denied to anybody accused of a serious crime who also has custody of a child. While this argument is reasonable, it only provides a solution for very narrow circumstances. For the greater protection of society as a whole, an expanded version of Kuenne’s stance on bail laws is necessary. Bail should be denied not only to people accused of a serious crime who have custody of a child, but also to anybody suspect of a violent crime.
Although I took history courses in middle school, the classes taught minimal information and caused dissatisfaction with the level of knowledge I was receiving. The AP World History course was my opportunity to learn and understand different cultures and religions, and it was an opportunity I was not going to let pass by. Despite the constant remark of the difficulty of the course and its workload, I was eager to get started. It was in the very first week that I realized I made the right choice by enrolling in the course. Learning about the beginnings of civilizations and up to the 20th century seemed like a tough challenge I was looking forward to.
As a Beckman Scholar, I will be committed to creating an inclusive and diverse environment in my research and beyond. I strive to promote understanding and respect for all individuals, regardless of their backgrounds or identities. This commitment is demonstrated through my participation in various programs such as the Beckman Scholars Program. My goal is to create an environment where everyone feels respected and valued for their contributions. Through my involvement with these initiatives, I hope to foster a culture of acceptance that allows individuals from all backgrounds to feel comfortable participating in the scientific community.
On May 17, 2016 I walked the stage and received my diploma. I am happy I had this change in my life it matured me made me realize and learn many things but most importantly it made me a better person I do not regret this changed at all. It's never late to go back and finish what i had started I did not just go to school since preschool to just give up almost at the finish line? A quote I picked from “Superman and Me” was “I was never taught how to write poetry, short stories or novels”. Sadly I prefered to fool around in school and not paying attention in class, I wasn’t taking my education seriously at all but thankfully my life changed with just a simple change of schools.
Once I was able to accomplish these special moments, I felt a sense of pride. It made me feel that I need to continue to work hard, so that I can have the things that I need. Even if there’s something that challenging, I have to keep working. Ever since I’ve had that attitude, it has helped me in long run.
English classes were never my best topic, but you’d think if it is a class that is the word of the language you speak, how hard could it be. Well for me it’s super hard because I can’t comprehend very well, I hate reading so much I barely do it, and the only way I would actually read a book is if I was willing to get into it. What I mean by that is that there will be that one book that I read and as I’m reading it I’ll imagine everything I’m reading as if it came true. But like if I get assigned a book and I have a do date to read it chances are I won’t read it because that won’t mae me want to get into it. Overall I should really start improving my english
Therefore, I learned a lot from my experience and I feel confident that I will be able to apply my skills to my personal life, academic journey and professional
The past four years of my life hold both my highest of highs and my lowest of lows. High school can be a very awkward time period in a person’s life. Four years ago, I made the intimidating switch from St. Mary’s School to Algoma High School. There were certain aspects of high school which made me nervous, but academics was not one of them. I learned how to be a responsible student in my earlier years, and school had always come relatively easy to me.
