During the 1790’s George washington was the first president of the united states. During this time he wrote a long letter addressing the americans and their social society. After he resigned from the office, he wrote up this letter. He addresses a lot of different issues concerning the morality of America. Washington spoke of his concerns, of foreign affairs and the long-term alliances with other nations, Washington also yielded against excessive political party. These ideas were based off of the political situation during that time. Washington became aware of all the social corruption and wrote this to end it. Washington uses this letter as a basis of the future of america, from the colonial era, to the american revolution, then to constitution. The Colonial Era began when Columbus colonized the New World, and the Europeans made maps of the colonies, and started to colonize them. Washington in the letter addresses the people mostly because he believes that the people have a voice and need to exercise that: “The basis of our political systems is the right of the people to make and to alter their Constitutions of Government. But the Constitution which at any time exists, till changed by an explicit and authentic act of the whole people, is sacredly obligatory upon all.” (Hofstadter pg, 216). According to the author, George Washington is an omnipresent figure as he was growing up, described as the man in the moon who was aloof and silent. This book focuses on Washington's wartime service which became some of his major contributions to the United States, rather than merely telling the true story of Washington, its main thesis is focusing on analyzing his contributions and how his governorship had affected the American history. Washington wants to give a message of guidelines to the people after he is finished serving his second term. “It should, by all rights, be called the farewell letter, for it was in form and tone an open letter to the American people, telling them they were now on their own.” (Ellis 122) Washington's main goal for the country was to stay at peace. Washington said this would happen by staying out of foreign affairs and focusing on ways for the country to become more strong. “The rest of the Farewell Address was then devoted to foreign policy, calling for strict American neutrality and diplomatic independence from the tangled affairs of europe.”
In “Washington’s Inaugural Address of 1789”, President George Washington gives a humbling speech on what the American people were to expect during his term. Washington defines the different aspects of his new position to the presidency, and overwhelmingly assures the American people their involvement is essential. He also establishes the notion that the peoples voice matters, and in other words, he’s available to serve the people. Throughout his address, Washington also mentions his acceptance of his presidential status was not an easy decision. In addition to all of this, he openly preached on his religious stances.
The United States of America has been fortunate with getting unbelievable leaders in our past starting with George Washington. He has led our Nation to victory and our independence along with being amazing president. George Washington was an incredible leader during the American Revolution and it is proven by the viewpoints of the loyalists, patriots, and their similarities. George Washington placed enemies right where anyone would want them even if he did it on purpose or not. To explain, at the beginning of the war the loyalists viewed George Washington viewed him as a weak, unskilled leader because he lost majority of the battles.

He fist sent a copy of the document to Thomas Jefferson and General Lafayette, not present during the convention, hoping to gain their support off the bat (Mary Stockwell). He continued to write letters to other political leaders in hopes for their support of the constitution. He clearly expressed his reasoning for why the document would be so important to the states. Washington knew the harm that the Articles of Confederation had wan wanted to make sure that the government wouldn’t become powerless.
