Lettuce Germinates

96 Words1 Page

Lettuce is considered a spring or cool season plant due to its liking of cooler temperatures. Lettuce germinates best at temperatures ranging from 40°F to 80°F. It typically germinates faster in soils that are at temperatures of 70°F. The germination of lettuce happens rather quickly taking two to seven days. On average, the germination process occurs in about one week at a temperature of 50°F. Lettuce yields best in full sun, but partly shaded areas are helpful when it’s too hot. Lettuce is not the only cool season vegetable we studied. ("Explore Cornell Vegetable Growing Guides.")
