At the core of its mission, CASA programs exist to recruit, train and supervise volunteer advocates in best interest advocacy for abused and neglected children in the custody of Child Protective Services. Texas CASA supports this effort by passing through financial grants, providing training and offering assistance. Texas CASA is also accountable to our funders for meeting established targets for service to children. The volunteer to case ratio (VCR) is an indicator utilized to ensure that Texas’ children are served through trained and supervised volunteers. The program is currently serving 100% of the children in DFPS care in Fannin County.
My mock service was about me letting my cousin Raul Vega borrow $3,500 for him to start his process on getting his work permit. I made a written contract explaining him when did I wanted my money back and the reason I let him borrow the money. He read my contract and agreed to it so, we both signed it. I did called and texted him letting him know that I wanted my money back, that we had an agreement and he was not owning his word or the contract we made.
Human Service Program Evaluation Brooke Greene Kaplan University HN410: Human Services Delivery Dr. Annette Love October 27, 2015 In this assignment I will design and execute my own evaluation for Veteran Affairs homeless program. In this program the VA believes that no veteran should be without a home. This program is through Hunter Holmes McGuire and is run by social workers. During my research I spoke with a Social Worker that works in this program, her name is Ms. Terry.
Conditional sentences are primarily intended when a person commits their first crime and there is no reason to fear that he or she will re-offend. Probation can be applied to crimes for which fines are considered insufficient. If a conditional sentence is forced, there will be a probationary period of two years. During this period, the person must conduct himself in an acceptable manner. The conditional sentence may be combined with day fines and/or an obligation to perform community service.
Ms. Lewis was referred by Maricopa county correctional health services to receive an evaluation for potential to transfer to the mental health unit. She was serving a 10-year sentence for manufacturing and possession of illegal substances. She had served 1-year of her sentence and reported symptoms of anxiety, obsessive rumination, and sleep disturbances. Notification of Purpose and Limits of Confidentiality Upon arriving for her appointment, the Informed Consent and confidentiality agreement was discussed both verbally and in writing with Ms. Lewis. The purpose of evaluation was reviewed along with mandated reporting laws and danger to self (DTS) and danger to others (DTO).
For this service project assignment I was able to help volunteer for my nephew 's soccer league. It’s a small league that is based in Farmersville. As a volunteer I was able to work at their concession stand as well as helping out the teams with items that they needed. I gained a new sense of volunteering because not only do I rarely volunteer I forgot what a good feeling it is at the end of the day to know you 're helping out these kids. I started off by volunteering Sunday mornings since that is when all of the games took place.
In the wake of looking into the few changed callings in the arrangement of slides and checking on how each of them are dressed I conclude accept they are all dressed professionally. I felt comparable each photograph communicated demonstrable skill. With each diverse vocation field, they appeared to dress properly. They appeared to convey themselves professionally too. I accept that in the event that anybody in these callings did as they did again there wouldn 't be any issues with unprofessionalism in the working environment.
About a year ago, I began doing my internship at the Juvenile Services Department. Thinking back over my field experience, it was truly not what I was expecting the field of social work to be. When I first started as a social work intern, I was both excited and terrified. I needed to learn a great deal off new information and procedures while also adjusting to a new environment. As an intern at the Juvenile Services Department, I had a caseload of youth that were participating in the program.
There are three components that make up the criminal justice system – the police, courts, and correctional facilities – they all work together in order to protect individuals and their rights as a citizen of society to live without the fear of becoming the victim of a crime. Crime, simply put is when a person violates criminal law; the criminal justice system is society’s way of implementing social control. When all three components of the criminal justice work together, it functions almost perfectly. For a person to enter the criminal justice system, the process must begin with the law enforcement.
This class was a great learning experience because in so much less time we learned so many different topics. I would have probably never gotten the chance to do research on all these topics on my own time. Alone with learning about new topic we were also able to go out in the community to different learning sites and help others. My service learning site was Jacob Hiatt Magnet School, where I helped in a fourth-grade classroom. This was a great opportunity to for me to help out these children with the material they were struggling with.
The above characteristics that you discussed, I believe are great characteristics. Aside from them, I think human service professionals should have the characteristic of consistency. Consistency will help human service professionals to be able to help people through all adversity. Sometimes human services professionals has to help people through different circumstances. For example, maybe we would have to help a perpetrator of sexual abuse.
The New World of Police Accountability states, “it is a basic principle of a democratic society that the police are answerable to the public” (Walker & Archbold 8). This first chapter depicts how important police accountability is because “police are answerable to the public” (Walker & Archbold 8). If police officers participate in unethical practices it can cause the public to mistrust the police and ultimately “they will be less willing to report crimes, provide evidence of neighborhood problems, or even decline to identify offenders” (Walker & Archbold 8). Walker and Archbold created a police accountability framework that ultimately promoted ethical conduct. The accountability framework includes policy, training, supervision, and review
