In a world full of lies, is it even worth knowing the truth? Scarlett is a sixteen year old girl who could not remember anything before the age of four. She starts to get to know the new guy at school, named Noah, and instantly falls in love. Out of the blue☺, she gained a little piece of her memory back after a car accident. Noah and Scarlett are practically attached at the hip, but the book throws in a twist. It turns out that Noah belongs to a cult called Eternal Light that Scarlett’s parents also used to be in. According to Eternal Light, Scarlett is the “light” that they need to sacrifice in order to make a gateway to the afterlife. The book title, Awake, could have a few different meanings to it. In a span of a couple weeks Scarlett has had a lot thrown her way and she has to try to process it all. She has just been told that her whole life has been full of lies and everyone was able to keep the secrets from her, even her close grandparents and brother. Although she wanted to know the truth she also showed compunction, “Everything I thought I knew was a lie. I wanted to rewind ten minutes because the lie was better than the truth” (Preston 127). At the same time her mind is running ten thousand miles an hour, her heart is also being torn into pieces. The guy she thought was the one and only had tricked her into being captured by the cult. She slowly started to see the signs, Noah not being able to look or talk to her, Noah’s dad picking them up where he was not supposed to, she felt something was wrong. When Noah did not look, talk, or give into her she was broken into a million pieces. Noah was not supposed to love her but she made it so hard for him not to and he did feel really terrible but he had to do what was right for his community. After the second ritual of seven, they had already cut her arm open with a knife and in the split second Scarlett and Noah made eye contact, she saw his I-regret-being-born look in his eyes☺. No matter how contentious she is she still has to stay placid and observant so she can make a strategy to find a way out. Scarlett knows what she has to do and she is very smart “Knowledge is power” (Preston 182). Scarlett knows the more she can learn and take in from Eternal Light is all the better of a chance she has to live. She has to figure them out first to be able to try to defeat them and get away, but without knowing who they really are and their beliefs it would be hard to get into their heads to trick them into thinking you are one of them. After Noah saw how they cut Scarlett that did it for him. He flipped a switch and decided that it was her life he was going to save because she was more important to him. The love for her father dissapears when she enters the congos and sees the culture within the congos. Leah strays away from her father and he belief in God when she watches her fathers actions and the words he speaks to the other people. Through out the novel you will see Leah change

The story is about how when Meg was young her dad and mom were interested in science and her dad believed in a thing called a Tesseract which you can teleport and he tessered once to this place where everything is beautiful except for the darkness.
Throughout the book Holden describes phoniness in different ways and what each person he is describing that is phony. In the beginning of the book Holden believes that everyone at Pencey Prep are phonies because they are more interested in becoming a part of soceity to look good. He also feels that people at Pencey Prep don’t say anything honest and are super judgy. In the 4th chapter he says that people in movies are phonies beause they use fake emotions and lie in the part that they are playing. Overall in the book holden uses the word phony as that when people lie or have a certain tone to ther voice that seems phony.
Seeing what the characters in the book had to deal with is unbelievable. The sisters balance the life of a rebel with their home life. It doesn't always work out but they try to anyways. They make sacrifices and try to understand the consequences. “But Minerva, your own child—" I began and then I saw it did hurt her to make this sacrifice she was convinced she needed to make,” is what Patria said to her sister Minerva concerning her child.
As the story progresses we come to understand the reason behind all of this. Unfortunately her home life is not the best as she lost her brother and her mother a victim of attempting
Ann is isolated with no one to talk to, and has to resort to speaking to herself, slowly convincing herself in doubt, with no one to set her straight
arguing that lying is a major problem that need fixed before everyone life just become one huge lie. This technique persuades the readers into agreeing, because she’s seen as a normal everyday person like the reader. Given these points, Ericsson concludes that lying is a natural habit all humans own. Do not beat yourself up if you can’t go one day without lying, because it’s is both good and bad depending on the case.
Awakening In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve experienced a sudden moment of realization, they become aware of themselves and their surroundings. This “awareness” led to their demise and created a door for sin. Likewise, the main character in the novel “The Awakening” experiences a sudden moment of awareness. Like many women of her time, she tried to follow the tracks laid out for her, trying to please the eyes of the people.
Sarah decides to forgive Coalhouse and they rejoin in their love. Later Sarah hears of a campaign rally and goes in search of help. She is mistaken for a would-be assassin and is beaten to death. Act II opens and Coalhouse is a shell of the man he once was. He is causing term-oil out of his grief and the Family is stuck in the middle of it all.
By writing from Noah's point of view, the reader knows some very adult issues that are seen through the story. Noah is forced to be the peace-keeping between his father and mother. He loves his parents very much and he hope and pray stay together. The author chose a perspective that was both interesting and informative to me.
Although young she has a fierce grip on truth. This truth rarely compromises giving her a strong standard of what to live by. With this standard she faces life never relenting on what she believes to be right and fighting against anything she believes to be a lie. “I don’t know what you’re talkin’ bout but you better cut it out this red hot minute.”
A book cover, as simple as it is, can allow the reader to gain insight into themes and topics that a book contains within itself. The book covers of the book, “1984” by George Orwell, show the reader different ideas and themes that are present within the book. In the book “1984” Winston has dreams of a revolution to overthrow Big Brother and the totalitarian control that he has over all people. The book covers do not show the summary of the book just show the theme and it is up to the reader to find why the book cover is important. Most of the 1984 book covers focus around the major theme of the book which is surveillance.
As years pass by Captain Butler realizes that even when married Scarlett cannot forget about Ashley. After so many tries hoping that Scarlett could finally love him the way he did, he finally had enough. When returning from Melanie Hamilton’s and Ashley Wilkes home where Melanie passed away that was the last straw for Butler.
