Life Course Perspective Analysis

There were many key events and people that led up to the American Revolution. Two of them being the The Boston Tea Party and the Boston Massacre. These events are very important to history because these were the first of many events that helped with the establishment of independence from Britain. The colonist left their country and sailed across the oceans in hopes of starting a new life in a new world. However, the British government didn't give them that opportunity by controlling them. A turning point in history occurred on March 5, 1770. It was the first try of the colonists, to rebel against their government. A following event took place on December 16, 1773 when the colonists decided it was time to stand up once again to the injustices

Life is presented with a turning point, or life changing experiences, whether it is good or bad. Some people who had a life changing experiences had changed their lives, and also their countries’ lives. Three people that had a turning point in their lives are, Melba Pattillo Beals from memoir Warriors don’t ryWarriors Don’t Cry, Jackie Robinson from autobiography I Never Had It Made, and “The Father of Chinese Aviation” by Rebecca Maksel, which highlights Feng Ru. Melba Pattillo Beals, Jackie Robinson, and Feng Ru had affected their country, and their lives. They affected their country and their lives because they inspired many people, faced life changing experiences, and made an achievement for their own country.

When you have a turning point in life they are usually difficult and challenging. The story’s “Warriors Don’t Cry” by Melba Patillo Beals, “The Father Of Chinese Aviation” by Feng Ru, and “I Never Had It Made” by Jackie Robinson all had some life changing experiences in their life. Jackie Robinson his turning point was he was the first African American to play in the M.L.B,Melba Patillo Beals her turning point was she had to face rudeness, segregation all that horrible stuff and she couldn’t even go to school for 2 days, and finally Feng Ru His turning point was he had created the first airplane in a 10ft shack and put the pieces together all by himself. They all made life changes and impacts on their countries. Feng Ru, Melba Beals, and Jackie Robinson all inspired people to above and beyond, They also inspired their country by making changes and great impacts on their country.

Turning Points are often when something unexpected or something you can’t control happens in your life. The texts that concluded this idea was the Autobiography “ Warriors Don’t Cry’’ by Melba Pattillo Beals, the poem The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, and the Drama excerpt “Dragonwings”by Lawrence Yep. Melba Pattillo Beals, The Main Character of The Road Not Taken, and Moonshadow all faced life changing experiences, that changed a big part of their lives.

Turning points can challenge your life at times. It can make your life better or worse.

According to Meriam Webster Dictionary, an epiphany can be “a moment in which you suddenly see or understand something in a new clear way”. The crescendo of events prior to an epiphany is the journey one must endure to reach the apex. In the short stories “Desiree’s Baby” by Kate Chopin, the main characters, Desiree and Armand, each reach epiphanies as their relationship is tested by the war between racial inequality and love. In the story “A&P” by John Updike the main character Sammy is witness to his own epiphany after what starts a simple day turns into a life altering event. As presented in “Desiree’s Baby” and in “A&P”, characters in each story experience the apogee of an epiphany that is outlined

Every day turning points occur. Some are life changing in both positive and negative ways, and countries can be changed based on these turning points. Jackie Robinson from “I Never Had It Made” Melba Beals from “Warriors Don’t Cry” and Feng Ru from “The Father of Chinese Aviation” all faced turning points. These turning points changed their lives and in doing so changed their countries for the better.

The Revolutionary War was a very important to the world. It showed how strong the British and the continental army was. In order to win the war you had to win a most of the battles. They had great leaders. For the Continental army, they had George Washington as their leader. For the British army they had William Howe as their leader. They lead their sides to great victory they also lead their sides into losing. This is about the wife's, side of the story she is of one of the soldier's wife. She is telling what she heard about the soldiers. Her husband was on the Continental army side. The war and battles have made him very sick so that is why she is telling the story. She will be telling 3 things that she thought were they were the most important in the war. Her name is Maria Rolon.

People who endured a life-changing event can respond positively or negatively. How can turning points impact daily life? A turning point is a drastic change that can impact life greatly in a positive or negative way. The individuals Jackie Robinson from his autobiography “I Never Had it Made”, Melba Pattillo Beals, from her memoir “Warriors Don’t Cry”, and Feng Ru, from Rebecca Maksel’s article “The Father of Chinese Aviation”, all faced life-changing experiences that changed their character and their lives as well as impacting their society and country as a whole.

Integrating theory into social work practice is essential in defining why social work is needed and how to practice it effectively. This paper will discuss two theories; intersectionality and life course theory, as I believe that these two theories are collectively suitable and effective in interrupting the cycle of oppression. I will draw upon both my own experiences and literature to analyze the strengths and limitations of intersectionality and life course theory. This discussion will exemplify how intersectionality and life course theory enhance each other and can work synergistically to inform my social work practice.

Life course perspective is used in social science to help understand human development. It takes into account how a person grows and changes through life experiences. It looks at historical events as well as cultural changes that affect a person’ evolution over their life (The life course perspective, 2003-2018). Life course perspective states that there is complex interaction of social and environmental factors mixed with biological, behavioral, and physiological issues that define the course of a person’s life. Each stage in life exerts influences on the next stage, social, economic, and physical environments and they also have influences through a person’s life course. Most transformative moments in life can be caused by the smallest of occurrences in life. Often people do not even realize that a pivotal moment in their life is happening. Someone may realize when they are mature enough that there was one special moment during their childhood that ultimately determined their lifelong goal. For others, they probably realized an “aha” moment right when it happened and from then on decided that they knew what they want to accomplish later on. I actually have taken from both sides of the spectrum from realizing that one special transformative moment but also not even knowing that it would end up steering me towards my current career choice.
