During the duration of this course I have learned many things about technology and how it is now tied to education. Looking back at the Literacy Checklist, I have found two subjects I need to work on and two subjects I feel I have mastered a greater understanding of. The first subject I need to work on is being able to describe the P21 criteria for preparing 21st century learners. I do not understand this as strongly as hoped, although I will continue to learn more about the P21 criteria and 21st century learner as I achieve my educational and professional goals. The second subject I will like to work on is being aware of the emerging technologies in education in the future. This is something I will always continue to do because technology …show more content…
I will achieve this by reading articles on the new and improved educational technology as well as looking for different types of computer software and programs to engage students learning. The second subject I feel I have mastered is using technology to support learner-centered strategies and meet content standards. I have mastered this by knowing that all learners are different. Some learners for example need hands on projects to comprehend the context of the subject when others simply just need to read the content to themselves as well as out loud. Technology can be used to achieve both for these types of …show more content…
The standard that I need to work on is Standard #5: Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their schools and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources. This standard is something I will always be working on. Learning the new technology and where to find it and use it is key to being successful in the future as a teacher. Technology is all around us and knowing about the newest technology is a necessity. The standard I feel I have mastered is Standard #2: Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content and learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes identified in the ISTE-S. During this class I have really shown improvement on this standard. I have already applied the tools learned in this class in my personal and professional life. I now know the potential in the software on my computer along with the software that is available to me. This class is a class that will continue to help me thrive as a future teacher and help me achieve the goals I have set for
From this class, I have learned to work with other people, including students and adults, as well as leading a team, creating ideas, and problem
First, technology is key to the modern educational system. Without the use of technology, students wouldn’t be able to effectively research or understand crucial
technology literacy changes on 1980, it meant knowing how to program code. In 1995, it meant knowing how to work basic tools like word processing and spreadsheets.technology literacy is much richer and more complex because there is more information available than ever before. And the tools for finding, using and creating information are rapidly becoming more diverse and
Second grade is self-contained so you will be responsible for making sure you teach all the standards to your students. How would you incorporate the standards into your daily lesson? 4. Describe how you plan to implement technology into your classroom and daily lessons effectively. 5.
Hi Bailee, I agree with you that we need to change the way we teach because technologies got more advanced and it would be helpful if we ultilize it in our teaching routine. Technologies can also help students be more engage in the classroom instead of listening to boring lecture. This will help entertain students while improve education.
Based on my experience Literacy translates to being an expert in particular subject or aspects of life. In 21st generation digital literacy goes hand-to-hand with any skill as it holds tremendous parts of our
For this assignment, I was expected to choose a topic that impacts elementary students so much that it often affects their ability to be fully engaged in academic learning. After selecting the topic, “Latch Key Kids,” I did some investigation and research. Then, I presented a twenty minute presentation, which was to use a technological presentation format. Expected information included a definition of the social issue, a description about how it often effects learning environments, and an explanation about the teacher’s role in supporting the student as he/she copes with this social issue. An activity for viewers was a required aspect of this
Although my classes just began, this advice has me positive that I will succeed in my classes as I have already incorporated them into my schoolwork. In addition, I was given ample instruction on
The link between literacy and technology”, Schmar-Dobler states that the nature of literacy is changing to include the type of reading strategies used to read both
Teacher technology support within the XYZ school district is essential to integrate available technology tools into the curriculum effectively (Helms, 2014). While this school district is making considerable progress in incorporating technological resources within the curriculum effectively, a need exists for further development in leveraging technology within the curriculum (GaDOE, 2008). In 21st Century classrooms, electronic hardware and software can support numerous resources for differentiated lessons to students with access to these resources
With decades of research, it came to a conclusion that not all students learn the same way. Jeremy Roschelle is co-director of the Center for Technology in Learning at SRI International. In his research, he examines the classroom use of innovations that enhance learning difficult ideas in mathematics and science. Chad Lane has a Ph.D. and M.S. in computer science and wants to create educational technology that will compelling and engaging.
This class was overall fun and informative. I am glad that I took this
In the classroom, technology can encompass all kinds of tools from low-tech pencil, paper, and chalkboard, to the use of presentation software, or high-tech tablets, online collaboration and conferencing tools, and more. The newest technologies allow us to try things in physical and virtual classrooms that were not possible before. Today, I cannot imagine how difficult it is to teach without technology and how hard it is to learn without it. Technology plays a major part in our lives as students.
“Our ability to adapt to the web as it adapts to us will determine its future and our own” -Paul Gilster Literacy is generally termed as an individual’s basic ability to read and write. Literacy takes an intrinsic part in our society and is seen as a tool for empowerment, it enables individuals to participate and contribute to the society that they live in (Jones-Kavalier & Flannigan, 2006). Prior to 21st century, literacy was conventionally perceived as the set of skills to read, write and count (Jones-Kavalier & Flannigan, 2006). But with the advent of new millennium, literacy has expanded and has assumed new meanings
Change is occurring in society at a rapid speed. Change may be described as the adoption of an innovation (Carlopio 1998), where the ultimate goal is to improve outcomes through an alteration of practices. The above saying can truly be applied on the modern education system. The society in the twenty first century is increasingly diverse, globalized, and complex and media-saturated. In today’s world of technology, the olden education system with its teacher-centered approach, passive learning, time based, textbook driven, fragmented curriculum, low expectations from the learner does not seem to cater to the learning needs of twenty first century students.
