CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Overview of Project Linear Data Acquisition System (LINDA) is an addition for the EMDEX II magnetic field measurement system[]. It has been used in numerous studies on measuring the magnetic field which human exposed to. LINDA system uses EMDEX II and a measurement wheel to record magnetic field as well as distance along the path. The EMDEX II will save the measurement values once trigged by the magnetic switch which is attached on the LINDA’s wheel as in Figure 1.1. It will be triggered for every one foot. This project is expected to come up with a design of microcontroller based GPS coordinate data logger. The GPS coordinate data logger will be triggered by a magnetic switch to determine when to save the coordinate. The method is just the same as the LINDA system. This project will improve LINDA system where it will be able to save GPS coordinate for mapping purpose. Figure 1.1 : LINDA Measurement Wheel 1.2 Problem statement Short-term exposure to magnetic fields may be dangerous to health. There has been many studies on measuring the magnetic fields using LINDA wheel with EMDEX II to determine whether it is safe for human exposure[5, 9, 14]. However, these studies did not include mapping the high magnetic fields area. There is a need in mapping the dangerous area since it may risk health. …show more content…

Each sentence has about 80 characters and the data are separated by commas. the sentence ends with an asterisk (*) and followed by two hexadecimal checksum numbers. There are most common NMEA sentences which include GGA, RMC and GSA where GGA provides the current fix data, RMC provides the minimum GPS sentences information such as date and time, speed, course and the bearing while GSA provides the satellites status data. Figure 2.2 shows example of NMEA
