Throughout time love has been one of the best stories to tell. No matter where or when the events take place the characters often have many common factors, even stories that seem very different from each other, frequently are more similar than not. While watching these, the similarities in the basic idea of the movie are straightforward, The Other Sister directed by Garry Marshall in 1999 and Listen To Your Heart directed by Matt Thompson in 2010, also share a deeper meaning than what meets the eye.

Ariana and Danny begin a great romance, she hides him from her well-to-do family. The two fall deeply in love, but Sara's mother discovers the affair, she puts an immediate stop to the relationship. After time has passed and they are still apart, Danny is still trying to win Ariana back, he finds out he has an extremely aggressive form of cancer, he will not be alive long, this tragic news lead Ariana back to Danny. Edith Wharton's book Ethan Frome is the tale of a man, his wife and the woman he falls in love with. Ethan marries Zeena but falls in love with Mattie who is the opposite of his wife in every way. Where Zeena is sedentary and a sickly woman, Mattie is exciting and lively. In an ironic turn of events the woman he falls in love with transforms into a mirror image of his wife. Ethan married Zeena, out of fear of being alone for the rest of his life and suffers an unhappy and loveless marriage because of it.
Madness is developed between both texts, “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “I Felt a Funeral, in my Brain” as the central idea. In “The Tell-Tale Heart” madness is shown by Poe not liking the old man’s eye. In “I Felt a Funeral, in my Brain” madness is shown when the girl is imaging a her own funeral because she is upset with how her life is going. In “The Tell-Tale Heart”, Poe is mad at this old man’s eye because he feels that it looks weird.
Suddenly, Justyce’s mom rushes in through the front door in tears. Her father still yelling at her and leaving Justyce in continuous tears. She was forced to sit at the table with her parents and tell them what was wrong but she felt like they didn’t care because they just turned the situation back on themselves making it all about them. Essay #2 Parents play a very important role in the lives of their children. If parents do it in the right way, it positively impacts children’s mental and emotional condition. One of the main characters from the short story “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” by Joyce Carol Oates, Connie, does not have that kind of relationships with her parents, with who she can share her thoughts or who to get a good advice from. The main reason of all Connie’s mental and emotional problems is that her parents do not play a good role model for her and compare with the older sister. Being parents is far more than just providing children with food and clothes.

Zeena, on the other hand, tries to stay in in control over every aspect of both of Mattie and Ethan’s lives. But towards the end of the novel, Ethan and Mattie attempt suicide and fail, and after the two are incapacitated, Zeena recovers and begins to care for her family.
