Chapter 2: Literature Review 2.1 Mobile Robot Mobile is an ability of moving or being moved from one place to another. A robot is a programmable malfunction manipulator designed to move material, parts, tools or specialized device through variable programmed motion for the performance of a variety task (Robot Institute of America). The study of mobile robot is about an automatic machine that capable of moving. A mobile robot is a mechanism machine that can move around its environment independently. The mobile robot need to be able to navigate in order to perform the mission or task. Tracks, also known as threads are similar to the tank. It is suitable for mobile robot in rough and irregular surface as track provide friction and reduce slippage. Tracks is best for mobile robot used for outdoors and off-road grounds. Land based tracked robot can easily cross over larger obstacles due to their greater area of ground contact and can be used on almost any terrain. Land based tracked mobile robot is used skid steer drive as a mechanism to moving. Skid steer is related to the differential drive system. The tracks is attached on the two side of the mobile robot chassis and driven by two separate motor. It is steered by moving those tracks at different speeds in the same or opposite direction. Some of the advantages of skid steer drive are: i. They have greater friction and especially good for irregular terrain ii. No explicit steering wheels, steering mechanism is not required. iii. Since all wheels on each side drive in the same direction, only two motors are enough for driving and steering the robot iv. Does not require castor

There was a person hiking a mountain trail in a national park. The man was weighted down with luggage, so he had to make frequent stops on the mountain. The next time he went hiking, he brought his RedBot® Roamer, so all he had to carry was a remote. The Roamer will carry all heavy and light items. PURPOSE The goal of this lab was to build a mousetrap powered car. The mousetrap car needed to travel fifteen feet. The purpose of building these mousetrap cars was to demonstrate our knowledge of motion, friction, force, distance, and energy. A mousetrap car is a small vehicle whose only source of motive power is a mousetrap. The mousetrap acts as a third-class lever, with the spring as the fulcrum and the hammer as the load. The vehicle works by winding the string around the axle the mouse trap's spring is stretched and now you have your stored energy, also known as Potential Energy which is the amount of energy an object has due to its position in space. As the mousetrap car is released the mouse trap pulls the string off of the axle causing the wheels to turn and the vehicle takes off. When the vehicle is released two energy transformations occur, first potential and then kinetic.
Technology will evolve, as it is in its natural way to do so. Thus, in the car manufacturing area the purpose for the near future is to produce autonomous cars. People love the idea of making driving more enjoyable and comfortable, and less stressing by continuously keeping the steering wheel and pushing the pedals. Having such technology available is great, but everyone is thinking about comfort, enjoyment and pleasure of traveling by car. There are more sensitive matters that must be discussed regarding autonomous cars, and some of them are responsibility and ethics.
