From the above discussion, it seemed to be clear why I chose 'Social Cognitive Theory '. This theory seemed to be supported to my study because it focused on observation which plays fundamental role to learn English. This theory believs that learning takes places through direct observation, modeling, social environment, skills, stratigies, and attitudes. In EFL classroom, teachers exhibit different behaviors (verbal and nonverbal), skills, and attitudes by creating learning environment which may influence students to learn an English language. This theory helped me to see what types of nonverbals behaviors teachers demonstrate through modeling while teaching. Similarly, this theory gave me insight to explore the aims of this study.
Therefore, the teacher can focus on helping the students practicing, organizing and delivering the ideas into the sentence in learning speaking English. It is hoped that the students will more interested in learning English. For the readers, it is expected that this paper can give information and references to improve the reader’s knowledge about the using of a hopscotch game in teaching speaking to the young learners especially to the fifth graders of International Elementary
First of all, Language Awareness is a bridge which helps to connect English and foreign language in curriculum (Hawkins 1974 cited in Hawkins 1999). It provides a forum for learners and teachers to discuss a variety of languages in common vocabularies. For instance, children have the opportunity to learn numbers, colours and animals in three languages. Besides, these activities foster language awareness as teachers use children’s existing experience and knowledge of their first language in order to make sense of a new language (Bolitho 2003). This will help children to relate and understand better of the new language.
Experts have revealed that 65% to 90% of the communication is non-verbal. To explore the importance of nonverbal communication in actual classroom setting and to investigate the effect of the skill on teaching-learning process. The study will promote awareness in both teachers and the taught about non-verbal communication. It would also pave the way for introducing new trends in the teaching learning process for promoting better learning of the English language students. The recommendations of the study will be useful for educators, English language teachers and curriculum
This paper concentrates on the observations made during lessons. It also focuses on how learning English for the first time as a language can be taught in a way that would be better and easy to understand. The students that I will deal with are those of grade one and two. Learning activities highly influence on how a student appreciate. Making sure that learning activities are of high quality which can be coupled with situations gives the students’ different perspectives which they can appreciate.
The most beneficial person would be the teachers. They will be having awareness on enhancing the students’ communication skill and recognize their mistake in implementing the communication skill in their lessons to ensure students are able to practice their communication skill using English language. Besides, the results from the research can help the school authorities to identify their problems and to improve their strategy in using the Communicative Language Teaching Approach (CLT). Thus, they can find the best way to help their students improving their English language proficiency in
It also covers strategy Analysis for the purpose of formulating various steps and methods for future ESL classrooms (Hutchinson & Waters, 1987). Also a learning needs analysis helps in identifying the actual requirements of the student so that special concentration can be given on that particular need. Means analysis takes a step ahead in pedagogic need analysis by evaluating the classroom culture, the EAP staff and even the education quality that is operative in the class (Munby, 1978). Therefore it is a complete analysis of the actual education proficiency of the student in English language with a view to remove all the drawbacks and prepare the student for the future education carrier (Songhori,
1.2 Objectives of the study The main objectives of the study are to: 1. Investigate the use of code-switching at secondary school level for the teaching and learning of English.. 2. Find out the importance of code-switching for better teaching and learning of English language at school level. 3. Determine inclination of teachers teaching English at secondary level and students towards the need of code-switching for the teaching and learning of English language in the present educational scenario.
Therefore, it is essential that English teachers pay great attention in teaching speaking to the students. It is useful because the ability to communicate with foreign language, especially English clearly and efficiently contributes to the success of the students at school and success later in every period of students’
In order to teach English language to the students, teachers should provide them opportunities to interact in an interesting and meaningful context, in which they are able to use and play with language because it is an interacting process. A collaboration of the peers and teachers are needed to create a meaningful context. Research studies revealed that language learners learn or acquire words more effectively when they are taught with the help of flashcards (Khodareza & Komachali, 2012; Schmitt, 1995). Thornbury (2002) states that flashcards help
