August 4th, 1892, around noon Andrew Borden was found in the parlor of his home, followed by the finding of his wife’s body in an upstairs bedroom. Who did it? Several theories have been given as the causes of this murder. Lizzie Borden, was accused of this crime, but the question is was she really the murderer? The theories have emerged which could explain the causes of Andrew and Abby Borden’s death. The first possible cause of the Borden’s death could be that Lizzie Borden killed them. Theories state that Lizzie was acting very odd days before the murder, and she showed signs of mental instability. Her failed attempt at purchasing prussic acid before the murder lead investigators to believe she planned their death all along. In fact, they
Evidence was excluded that she bought prussic acid, she said it was for cleaning a sealskin cloak. Due to the illness in the Borden house before the murders there stomachs were removed to check for any poison and none was found. The victims heads were removed from the bodys and used during trial and Lizzie fainted and then was buried at the end of the grave after. On June 20 after deliberation, the jury acquitted Lizzie
In the year 1981 America lost a beloved actress, Natalie Wood. Her death was ruled an accident by the original coroner, but upon further investigation the case was reopened. New evidence was discovered that changed the way the case was looked at, including conflicting reports, new analysis and new evidence. These factors could change the initial ruling and put to rest a case that has been dormant for 30 years. One of the first new pieces of evidence was a new analysis of the bruises on Natalie Woods arm, neck and wrist.
In August 4, 1892 at 92 Second Street in Fall River, Massachusetts in the Borden house. Andrew Borden and Abby (Durfee Gray) Borden were murdered in their own house. Andrew was murder, while he was sleeping in the sofa. Police were searching in the house and led to discover the dead body of Abby in the upstairs bedroom. Both of them were a victim of a brutal hatchet attack.
There are theories and speculations, but no real murder The murders of Andrew and Abby Borden still haven’t been uncovered. I personally think she is innocent. She is innocent because, she had no physical evidence against her in the trial , she loved her father deeply, and her father had an argument with a man just before that morning. These are the three reasons why I think Lizzie Borden is not the murderess of Mr. and Mrs. Borden. First, she had no real physical or forensic against her during the murder case.
First of all shown in the article “August 04, 1891 Borden Parents Found Dead” Lizzie says she was in the barn at the time of the murders, and eventually found her father's dead body (“August 04”). Many people were skeptical about this theory because there wasn't much to back it up. On the contrary there was no evidence showing she murdered her parents, there was no blood or weapon found (“Lizzie Borden On”). Also, other studies show that the illegitimate son of Andrew Borden or Townspeople might have been guilty (“Lizzie Borden”); then again not much evidence is shown to back that up as it is not a very well known theory. Another claim Lizzie made was that she was looking for lead weights at the time of the murder (“Lizzie Borden”) and that “According to her story, Lizzie remained in the barn for 15 minutes and then returned to the house” (“Lizzie Borden On”).
We witness each murder being discovered in detail, First her stepmother, then her father. We see the clues being pieced together one by one, the suspect list growing and shrinking and containing different names in each chapter, but one was constant Lizzie Borden. The next
At the time of the trial, Lizzie Borden, changed her story multiple times, she was inconsistent. Borden also had a history of stealing from her stepmother and would often blame someone else (Hartselle, 2013). During the trial she showed no emotion about her parents having been murdered (Hartselle,
Another thing that happened was when they showed the chopped up skulls of Abby and Andrew for evidence, Lizzie fainted gaining sympathy from people. All this evidence makes it clear that Lizzie Borden is guilty for the murder of Andrew and Abby Borden. But sadly, she got
Lizzie cried out to Emma to come look and told her that someone had broken in and murdered their father. When police came to investigate they found on the second floor the corpse of Lizzie’s step mother Abby Borden. They found that Abby Borden’s body (Lizzie’s stepmother) was cold while Andrew Borden’s body (Lizzie’s father) had still been warm. (Linder) A couple days after the Abby and Andrew Borden’s death newspapers reported evidence of Lizzie Borden having something to do with the murder.
Borden’s body and once both bodies were found they began to search the house for evidence and take statements of the people that had been in the house that day. They were not able to find much, but they did head a hatchet in the basement. The only problem was the hatchet was clean of any blood and the handle had been broken off. After the police finished with the house, they began taking people in for questioning, to get a better understanding of what exactly happing that morning. Lizzie was taking in for the questioning for that morning, she was still shaking up form what happened, and questioning tactics back then were not sensitive to people that just experienced something traumatic.
In fact, when police searched the house they found a hatchet. The police suggested that a hatchet with a broken handle in the basement was the murder weapon. The hatchet was even rolled in ash to look unused and dusty. Next, Lizzie was seen burning a dress, a blue dress to be exact. Lizzie burned the dress claiming that it was stained with paint/ though police thought she was burning evidence.
In addition, after the trial she showed bad behavior. Lizzie Borden was accused of shoplifting in 1897 (Biography.com Editors, 2014).In her case everyone she knew turned against her and tried to get her in trouble for everything they could. In addition, after many trials and long investigations and tons of evidence Lizzie Borden got away with the murders of her
Black Dahlia Murder In 1947 the tragic loss of Elizabeth Short shocked many people all over the world. This wasn’t your typical murder, this murder had to have been planned out and thought about for a while before its happening. The “Black Dahlia Murder” is the biggest unsolved case in Los Angeles and is still an undergoing investigation. I have reason to believe that Dr. Gorge Hodel is the murderer behind the brutality of Elizabeth Short’s body.
On Sunday, November 13, 1842 a double murder occurred at Smith Farm in Old Fields, Long Island. The victims, Alexander Smith and and Rebecca Smith, were a wealthy, well- respected married couple who ran Smith farm. George Weeks, the Smiths farmhand, was reporting for work the monday after the murder and heard the dog barking from the work-shed by the Smiths house. George Weeks then became suspicious since the dog was usually inside with Mr. Smith. George then looked in the house and saw that the east room window was broken and Mr. and Mrs. Smith were lying on the floor covered in blood.
Lizzie along with Bridget Sullivan where in the house, Bridget along with John did not get questioned. According to article #3 14 reasons to believe Lizzie murdered her parents suggests that “ It looked like an inside job. Police found no signs of forced entry into the Borden home.” Even though this article is why she did murder her parents it provides some very important facts. There was no sign of forced entry that means some inside could have done it, so who was also in the house, Bridget.
