The novel allowed me to understand the importance of friendships and how they help each other develop themselves. I enjoyed watching Miles develop and entering new experiences and I have also learnt that friends are there to encourage me. However, I am not sure if whether or not I am happy I read it. It is well written, funny and an amazing book, but it was so heart breaking and sad, because I felt like I had lost Alaska along with Miles. This is definitely a book I would recommend to anyone who
The book really made me think of all the stuff that I take for granted, and how I should be more appreciative and how there are people with less than me who are just as happy if not happier. If you’re not a fan of books that are sad but shocking and at times harsh because you think they’re boring or they don’t fulfill you’re interests, then I would still recommend you try reading the book because it’s very intriguing but I can’t guarantee you’ll love it, and if you do enjoy books like that then I say it’s a must read! Such a great true
In the book death is often interpreted as a time to
Death plays a bigger role in life than life itself. When people die, people cry, and while people cry, a clear moment of lucidity occurs. Death is what makes every moment worth living and is told through stories of books and movies with symbols both subtle and blunt. Night, for example, is an autobiographical novel recalling Eliezer’s experience through concentration camps while The Book Thief is a historical fiction film where Liesel is a bystander who participates in activities symbolizing war. History is intertwined death.
Along his journey, he was struck by many life altering decisions that has shaped him into the person he is today. Few people find it easy to discuss and write about the difficult topics Green brings to life in his novels, Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines, Paper Towns, The Fault in our Stars, and many more. Many teens and adults find his books to be inspirational in the way they go about solving life’s struggles. Most of his novels have been produced into movies, making him more well known as well as being twitter famous and creating educational YouTube vlogs. Green is a very well known author of this time period and has made a big impact with his writing videos, and movies.
Theme: The Misery Caused by Loss During the novel several characters die, of different causes. Misery is also a main motif, while several personas gradually become more and more miserable. The loss of characters caused dreadful misery.
There are parts of every good book that the readers do and do not enjoy. What I enjoyed about the book the most was the changes of perspective between and during chapters. It was nice to hear about what the main characters thought about each other's actions. I also enjoyed the plot of the story where the characters develop feelings for one another even though it didn’t end happily ever after. My favorite chapter of the book was when Eleanor and Park ran away to get Eleanor to safety because it shows how much he cares about Eleanor and it shows how much trust Eleanor puts into Park (Rowell 287-312).
One theme explored through out the whole novel is death. Death is all around us the was we respond to it defines us. Death can bring on guilt. One character who was really affected by death in this book was Kabuo. He is an American born Japanese.
In this novel, Death is the one who tells the story and is also a character in the story, which begins by Death presenting himself to the reader. This technique creates a really strong bond between the book and the reader, since the narrator addresses directly to the reader. It is also a way of captivating the reader, who, by being directly addressed to, feels like he has his own place in the story and gets
Death symbolizes the death of the African culture. Racism and enslavement were a way to kill it. Death was also the case of Aminata innocence of a child. The picture of the red line showing the death of someone is what I used to symbolize the theme. The red line symbolizes living things and the wavy line into the straight line describes the living transitioning into the after life acknowledging they time on earth is
From the beginning, children are taught to fear the concept of death. Most people spend their lives fearing death, but it’s not death that they are afraid of. It is part of nature to die, and our minds know that, what scares most people is the thought of death before they have had time to accomplish what they want in life. In “When I Have Fears That I May Cease to Be,” John Keats put into words how people feel about dying before they have been successful in whatever mission they have set forth for themselves. His poem touches the reality of people’s feelings though imagery and figurative language.
In the poem “Because I could not stop for death” by Emily Dickinson, death is described as a person, and the narrator is communicating her journey with death in the afterlife. During the journey the speaker describes death as a person to accompany her during this journey. Using symbolism to show three locations that are important part of our lives. The speaker also uses imagery to show why death isn 't’ so scary.

Everyone has to face death. There are some people who fear death because it will take them away from their loved ones and rip them off what they have earned throughout their life, such as money, honor, and power. However, there are people claiming that they do not fear death since they have experienced many wonderful moments in their lifetime. Death sounds so terrifying because it means an end of someone’s life. Reading Epicurus’ “Letter to Menoeceus”, I will argue that a reason to not fear death is that we do not exist anymore after we die.
Looking for Alaska Review I found looking for Alaska by John Green a funny, exciting, sad but beautiful read. Looking for Alaska made me think about any decisions that maybe right or wrong, and how there are always consequences not always to yourself when you don’t make sensible decisions. Miles Hatter starts his first year at Culver Creek High school. Miles is a 16-year-old geeky nerd who doesn’t have any friends.
It is his personal experiences with the unknown that make him write about death, in order to survive. It is only his writing that saves him from giving in because he is able to transform his experiences into his
