The first way is that because Jack didn’t accept the children for who they were, there was friction between him and the rest of the boys. In the first chapter, an attempt at civilization was made. Jack states that he himself should be elected chief, but he is ignored by the group of young castaways. Another boy from the back of the pack shouts that they should hold a vote, which, of course, everyone except Jack agrees to. The children elect Ralph as leader because of his welcoming and laid back character.

These two create a sort of social hierarchy between the group of boys with them being at the top and the littluns at the bottom with everyone else in between. Ralph uses his power and control in a good way to help himself survive and try to protect the group.

Near the end of their time on the island, Piggy, Sam, and Eric are the only ones left with Ralph, and Jack, who appears as “a chief now in truth; and he made stabbing motions with his spear” (Golding 168). Jack starts to get violent, and what was fun when they first got to the island become attempts to kill. At this point, Jack has fully taken over, and the only thing left for him to do is kill Ralph. Lord of the Flies exemplifies how when one person has all of the power, there is always somebody else that wants it more than that person. Ralph is not against Jack, nor does he want to fight with him for the chief position, but ambition and violence overtakes Jack, and he turns into a dangerous savage.

Jack and Ralph are two of the main leaders in the book Lord of the flies. The most effective and consistent leader in the book is Ralph. He is always trying to find ways to make thing better and Jack on the other hand he is trying to do the same thing as Ralph is but Ralph is just doing it better. This kind of leadership is kind of like the two president’s into today’s election they both are trying to make the world better in their ways. Ralph is also very upfront with what he is saying for instance he say in the book “the thing is fear can’t you more than a dream” that is pretty up front with saying it doesn’t hurt you to dream and Jack is saying “I am going to make rules and who ever breaks them shall be punished” that isn’t what a good leader

Most of them give in. Golding uses this novel to show that children are not naturally good. They are evil and without the constraints of society that savagery shines through.

These disputes come up multiple times over the course of the novel. One of which being the fight over the leader of the boys. Some believed the leader should be Jack while others believed it should be Ralph.

But of course there was this one cureles jealous boy that wanted to be a leader,the one in charge. Because of how ruthless and savage Jack was he took the fear that the boys had within them and used it against them to make them join his tribe which started the destruction of the island.

Overall, The Lord of the Flies was a very graphic novel that sought to depict the dark side of human nature. Every aspect of the novel contributed to the overall theme. From the Golding’s decision to use teenage boys as the main characters because of their disposition to behave recklessly to his use of the pig’s head to represent the devil, the story is a very effective cautionary
