She grew up a San Diego Chargers fan, but only started watching football when she was in the seventh grade. Not only has she grown into the girl she is today, she has had memorable incidents and experiences. Becoming your own person also gives you cherish-able memories or tragic incidents. We arrive at Herrick twenty five minutes before my horseback lesson, scheduled for eight in the morning. My coach, Kathy, wants me in the ring, on my horse at eight. As I walk across the ranch yard, Kathy sees me and calls out "You 're on Bingo." Bingo. I am riding that sweet old boy.
The memoir has a linear structure, going chronologically through her life. I felt like I was definitely more interested in her story as it went farther along, however there was never a spot where I wanted to stop reading. Her teenage years and on were quite gripping, seeing her coming into her own as a young woman while trying to keep the family together emotionally and economically. I cringed at times, and at others I was truly inspired by her unconditional love for her family even when they treated her so poorly. As the reader you can really see the strength she gained as a child and it inspires.

After my grandmother’s sister died about 2 years ago, I started calling and visiting my grandmother a little more because I realized that she is not going to be here forever. While I can agree that aging is fabulous, I just want to cherish the time that I have with her. My grandmother’s advice to young people really makes my emotional. Out of all of her children and grandchildren, I will be the first to graduate college. It is amazing to think about how I have the opportunity to graduate college and my grandmother never graduated high school and learned to read at the age of 50.
Civil rights issues stand at the core of Anne Moody’s memoir. However, because my last two journal entries centered on race and the movement, I have decided to shift my focus. In her adolescent years, Anne Moody must live with her mother, her mother’s partner Raymond, and her increasing number of siblings. As she reaches maturity, she grows to be a beautiful girl with a developed body. Her male peers and town members notice, as does her step father Raymond.
In the 1980s, everything was running smooth and fans were rewarded with the first running of the Breeders Cup series of races in 1984. Champions like Alysheba, Easy Goer, Sunday Silence and Ferdinand reminded everyone what a true racing hero was like. In the 1990s, the baton was passed on to Cigar and Skip Away. Unfortunately, something else was going in the 90s that would start the horse racing industry on a slow descent. The heroes started coming around less frequently.

O’Keeffe’s parents saw an artist in her early on and made sure she received the best schooling to pursue her dream. Her parents’ positivity stayed with her as she prospered as a self-supporting artist. Most of her paintings are vivid and bright because of the positivity shared with her throughout her childhood. O’Keeffe’s artwork was more feminine than most artwork in the 1920’s because there were not a lot of female artist in the beginning, but O’Keeffe helped to change that. The one extracurricular activity that has become a main priority in my life is my horses and barrel racing. Riding horses has become a stress reliever and a favorite pass time. It has become not only a sport, but a lifestyle. I began riding when I was only three years old. My mother bought me my very first pony and taught me how to ride.
