I arrived at Los Angeles Police 77th station at 1300 hundred hours on October 21, 2015. There I experienced several things. I was able to see that the officers in the front desk spend their time answering phone calls and addressing people who walk in. I was getting ready to take notes when a lady walked in trying to make a police report regarding a car accident that had happen earlier that day, one of the officers in the front desk told her that in the state of California all you need to do in case of a car crash is exchange insurance information, and that there was no need to file a police report. Minutes later another lady walked in demanding for the guy she was with to be arrested immediately for verbally treating her children before, she

The Justice system has shown a pattern of taking the side of law enforcement. As of today, police brutality, specifically excessive force still remains as one of the most serious human rights violations. From the severe beatings, to the unjustified shootings, and inexcusable aggressive rough treatment all contribute to police officer misconduct. Many officers need to be opened minded about the way they address victims, suspects, and criminals. Yes, they have the upper power, but in any situation everyone is a human being and should be treated as such; the majority of this unacceptable behavior goes unnoticed or unreported.
The police department of Los Angeles slogan is, “to protect and to serve.” To protect and to serve as in providing safety and assistance. As of November 29, 2015, 1,077 citizens have been killed by a United States’ police. That is equivalent to at least one death every eight hours. Do you feel protected?
Fatal Police Shootings “27 percent of African Americans are killed by the law enforcement” (Cooke 1) most of these are from fatal police shootings. Fatal police shootings have become an epidemic. The majorities of fatal police shootings are justified as homicides or have not been fully investigated. Plenty of cases have been closed due to false accusations. The turning point occurred when Martin Luther King Jr., Rodney King and many more were brutality beaten and or killed by police officers.

Is the US Police department creating an environment in where it is allowed to use police force wrongly? I would agree. In most cases along with many documentaries, alleged crimes like these are not always adequately addressed by the Justice Department, sometimes even being shrugged off by the system. In simpler words I feel as if this is almost unfair. For those who might not know what this familiar, yet almost unrecognizable crime among officers is simpler terms is when the authorities abuse of their power, causing grave problems throughout the different communities across the country to which must be Immediately addressed by the system.
Law Enforcement wearing Body Cameras In today’s world, crime is at an all time high and it is a very serious issue and we need a solution to take care of these serious problems these problems will only grow over time and it is time something is done about it. It is very important to keep this world a safe place as our population grows. A solution could be for police to wear body cameras to prevent abuse towards law enforcement, police abuse towards citizens, and to help in some court cases involving police brutality.
Police Brutality is an ongoing problem and existent concern in the United States and should be resolved immediately. Law enforcement must function as an element that consists of organized and civilized officers. The presence of police brutality is becoming more of an issue as society grows. The problem posed by the illegal exercise of police power is an ongoing reality for individuals of a disfavored race, class, or sexual orientation. Police brutality must be stopped so that police do not forget who they are serving – not themselves, but the public.
