The architectural building, I have chosen to focus on for this assignment is the Lotus Temple, which is located in New Delhi, India. It was designed by an Iranian architect named Fariborz Sahba in 1986. The Lotus Temple is also called the Bahai House of Worship. I decided to focus on this architectural building because I have visited this Temple a few times, and I personally find it very beautiful. One of the things I find very beautiful about the Lotus Temple is that unlike many other temples where people visit to worship an idol, Lotus Temple is a temple where people visit to wish for something they really desire or even to ask for forgiveness. The Lotus Temple is a popular tourist attraction and it is one of the beautiful architectural buildings in India. Every year, the temple gets about four million visitors, and is one of the most visited buildings in the world. The Lotus Temple looks a little similar to the Sydney Opera House; however, they both are used for different purposes. Like the name suggests, the Lotus temple looks like a lotus. As mentioned above, there are nine entrances to the temple to the temple. The inner leaves of the temple is for the main hall prayer, while the outer leaves of the temple covers the Inner hall. Another beautiful thing about the temple is that the outer coating of the white marble enables people from to see the temple from a distance. Because of this, the temple highlights with sunshine during the day, and turns purple at sunset. Another factor that enhances the beauty of the Lotus Temple is the “lush green landscaped garden” (Reference).
